Elske had not been to the Creche in a couple sevendays and knew she was in for it. The children adored their mother and being parted from her that long often made them act out. She had fostered her eldest daughter at Fort without issues but these two. They were unfosterable. Maybe if they would give people a bit less trouble.
"MOMMY!" A little dark haired boy came flying out of the Creche. Elryn had recently turned five and was a result of on of Elske's longer love affairs. He was shortly followed by his elder sister, Elian. She looked more like her father every day. That she ended up with his olive skin Elske was forever grateful. The girl had sky blue eyes and dark curly hair. Elryn however was his mother's son.
Before she could say anything Elryin was hugging her knees. If she wasn't so tall he'd be able to reach her better. Elske leaned down and picked him up. "You, are getting much to big to pick up, my dear." Elian took her mother's hand lightly and smiled up at her. The eight turn old was tall for her age already. "Now you must tell me all about your last couple weeks. Elian, how have your classes been going and have you thought about learning a craft?" The little girl seemed to tense at her mom's questions. "Daddy says I'm not to learn a craft." That man was going to hear from her if it was the last thing she did. HE could be bitter if he wanted but she wasn't going to let him ruin her daughter's future for it!
The trio came around the corner of one passageway and almost ran into something, or someone. Elske stopped and put her son on the ground. It had been a person after all.

F'leyen was walking back to the creche, little brother in hand. They'd been out for lunch and he was just bringing him back now. Derryc was talking a mile a minute. "So anyways...Tari has a fwitter dragon...and she says its gonna lay eggs and that i can has one. But it says no, browns can't lay eggs, onwy greens and golds...and i know that cause my big bwover is a dragonrider...." F'ley smiled down at the kid when he felt himself collide with soemone else.
"Excuse me..." he said and looked up to see who he had hit. Derryc start giggling.

"So sorry." Elske said taking a step back. "I wasn't looking where I was going. I'm a bit distracted." The two kids looked up at him then at her, then at the younger boy. "Hey I know you!" Elryn said loud and boisterous as he always was. "Is this your brother?" He knew it must be, the way Derryc spoke of him. "Hi. I'm Elryn and thats my sister Elian. Pleased ta meet ya." He looked up at his mother who seemed to be listening to him more than talkin, though she often spoke as frequently as Elryn. "My mom rides a dragon too. Isleith." He commented, proud as a peacock.
"I do indeed. We were just heading to the Weyrhall for some dinner..." She commented but knew it was too late. They would be stuck here for a few minutes while Elryn talked their ears off. She thought the other boy rather young but made no comment. She didn't flirt when the kids were with her anyway. Although they seemed to understand they had different fathers fairly well. Weyr dynamics, they would grow into in time.

F'leyen shurgged. "Thats alright, i wasn't looking where i was going either. Umm, yah, well my hald-brother anyways-Derryc." Derryc in the meantime was looking at the boy wit hthe other woman, around his age.
"My brovers dragon is a blue-Caewunyth. Caewunyth is the best dragon...but i bet Isleith is nice too." He bagan speaking quickly and excitedly.
F'ley nodded. "I was just taking a walk with the kid..." He said briefly and smiled as he listened to the two chattering boys.

"I'm Elske, by the way." Her smile expanded. "Would you and your brother like to accompany us. We are going to the Lake, after we pick up our food from the Weyrhall. It's a lovely day for a picnic." She added.
Elryn was still jabbering on with Derryc. "Oh! He rides a blue!" He went on all excitedly. "Elian's father rides a blue! Mine doesn't he rides a brown." Elian rolled her eyes and looked up at her mother. She wished her brother would learn to keep his mouth shut. Her mother and father never got along and now was not the time to bring him up after her mother's latest statements about her father.

"Hi Elske." He gave her his cute, boyish smile. "Absolutley. I'm always up for some food." He grinned. It was true. A picnic seemed like the perfect thing right now.
Derryc nodded emphatically, "Thats awesome, i love dragons! But are you and Elian related then?' he asked, obviously thinking hard and just blurting out everything he thought of like little kids do.

Elryn giggled. "Of course silly. My we have the same mother." Elryn and Elian did not look as closely related as some other siblings but there were still some similarities. Elske would be the first to admit that Elryn looked most like her of her three children. Her eldest daughter still lived at Ista.
"We best get moving then. The cooks are expecting me to pick up our food and with extra hands we can bring more..." She grinned. Her daughter took her hand swiflty, she didn't want to have anything to do with Elryn and his blabber mouth.

Derryc cocked his head at Elrin. An, "Oh" Slowly donnes on him and his mouth. "So your mother is the same but you have different daddies." He looked at his older brother, "My mom's dead but F'leyen's mom is like that. F'leyen sad she's a...a..whowre. Yah thats it. Whats that mean F'leyen," F'leyen blushed bright. Well little kids did seem to hear everything and then tell everyone else at the awkwardest times.
"Sorry about that. My mom just left me and my dad...thats all...jeese Derr, hold your toungue hunh?" He apoligised first to the greenrider and then chastised Derryc. He then cleared his throat and took Derrycs hand again. "Alright then, lets." He said to Elske, hoping to move passed that embarrassing little bit.

Elian gasped when Derryc called her mother a sleeper, unknowingly. Her hand tightened on her mother's. Elske did not get angry at the young man but hoped he learned a lesson not to speak about any woman that way. The younger two needed to know it was a very bad word.
"Now F'leyen, we can't leave them without an explaination." She looked down at Elryn and Derryc with a very serious face...Elske at her worst. "sleeper is a bad word that some people use to describe women who have several partners rather than one. You are never to use the word again. Is that clear?" Elryn nodded vigorously. His mother always told him the truth at least the truth as she knew it.
Elske kept her mouth closed after that. Another hand was placed in her own, Elryn smiled up at his mom. "Derryc, do you have a foster mom?" He asked curiously. He knew several people had lost family during the poisonings. Luckily both of his parents were still alive.

F'leyen blushed bright. He hoped she didn't get the wrong idea about him. He wasn't that kidn of boy. He didnt have a foul mouth. And he didn't even know Derryc had been listening when he'd said that. It was just his sharding mother, she just abandons hm and doesn't do a thing when his dad dies. He gulped ad nodded, face still bright read.
Derryc nodded, suqirming under Elske. "Yes ma'am. I'm sowry." He said, but got over any guilt quickly. He shook his head, "Nope. Just the cweche nannies. And my big bwother." He smiled up at F'leyen and the blue Weyrling smiled back. As annoying as the kid could sometimes be, he would never abandon Derryc.
F'leyen urged again, "So is everyoen still up for a bite?" He asked, hoping she hadn't reconsidered after Derryc's comment. He was an outgoing kid in general, and always liked meeting new people, plus if Derryc found a new friend that would be a bonus.

Elske knew the young man had his reasons but the younger boys would not understand that sort of thing. That was why she had had to reprimand them. Otherwise, she didn't give a sharding fall what he called his mother. She hoped her children would never call her that. Elian loosened her grip on her mother's hand but didn't say a word to anyone.
At Derryc's response Elryn smiled. He was going to be his friend. "If you want to share my mother you can." Elryn said as if Elske could even take care of her own three children. Dragonriders did not have that sort of free time for the most part.
"Of course, I'm still ravenous... I'm sure the children are too." She wasn't about to uninvite them on the picnic because of one word. Besides she did sleep around and she liked it so it wasn't much of an insult to her, more an insult to her children. Elian was especially sensitive to that sort of talk.

Derryc thought about it, "No fankyou. I don't wanna have a mommy. Because mothers always tell you when you hafta go to sleep and that you hafta eat all your tubers." He said. He'd neever known his mother, so to him, that was all he thought a mother did, because that was wht the other brats with mothers compained about. "Alvough i'm sure you is vewy nice Elske ma'am." He said politely, looking up to F'leyen afterwards for reafirrmation that he had been good. F'leyen just smiled a little at him. Two motherless brothers with a dead dad, a wonder they were still even mildly sane. "Do you have any brovers Elryn?" He asked, because brothers were the bestest thing in the world.
F'leyen allowed the kid to keep chattering and instead talked to Elske above their heads. "Alright then, lets." He smiled and began to walked up the passageway with his little brother still chattering excitedly next to him.

Elske was relieved a bit at the younger boys answer. She really couldn't deal with screwing up anyone else emotionally. Her three children were already dealing with having a mother who rides a green and fathers who also ride dragons. They barely saw eachother. Elske was giggling at the answer along with Elryn.
"No, no brothers. Two older sisters. Elian is one of them and my other sister I've never met. She lives at Fort Weyr, like her dad." He liked having sisters, he got to be the defender of them. It made him proud being the only boy.
Elian watched the boys talk but didn't say anything. She was certainly glad she only had one brother. The twit. Elske held both children's hands as they made their way to the kitchens. She wished Elian would try to converse a little but it seemed Elryn was doing all the talking as he liked to do.

Derryc nodded. "I fink having a sister would be nice. F'wey says i could actually have a sister, i just don't know her. Thats kind of cool." He said. Becaue it was true. F'talyn was no monk. But F'leyen would ever use any sort of bad word against the Brownrider. F'talyn was his hero. Derryc now noticed, with the talk of sisters, Elryn's sister really. He was at the age when girls were much more ignorable than boys. "How owld are you Elian?" He asked. She looked old, but than anyoen older looekd old to him.
F'leyen entered the kitchens first. Derryc trailing behind soon afer him. A blue lizard soon flew up to the Weyrling asn settled himself on the boy's shoulder. The bluerider noticed the mini dragon's full belly. "Hav you been stealing scraps from the kitchens again?" He asked, "Naughty nughty, Kale." Derryc squealed when he saw the dragonling. "Ooh, its Kale!" He said to Elryn. "He's my brovers. Soemtimes F'wey lets me hold him."
"Hey Derr," F'leyen addressed his brother, "Why don't you go with Elryn and see what the cooks have for a nice picnic. Cmon off you go." He said and the brat nodded happily. Mmm, maybe they'll get a treat and waited for the other boy to follow.

At the talk of sisters Elske looked down at her daughter, she was so nervous most of the time. Where did she get that from? Elske did not know. She was outgoing and the girl's father was no introvert either.
Elian looked at the two younger boys shyly. "I am eight."Was what she replied but she didn't really pay much more attention to their conversation. Brothers were not all bad but she would much rather live with an older sister than a younger brother.
The firelizard sent Elryn into a fit of giggles. "Kale..." He said the name, trying to memorize it. "I wish I had one too." Any color would do for the young Weyrbrat. He loved dragons and a mini one seemed too cool for words. Elske walked with the children further into the kitchens. She had no use for flits but it seemed the boys loved the little blue.
Pets were a waste of her valuable time. She didn't need a firelizard while she had her very own green dragon. Who was being entirely too quiet this afternoon. She reached for the green mentally, though she found the green was napping. One of the cooks waved Elske over. She let go of her childrens hands and hugged the woman swiftly. "So good to see you. Elian, Elryn and Derryc. This is my good friend, Renni. She has all our food in these baskets."
Elske continued on to whisper in the woman's ear. "We are going to need a bit extra food, we have two guests joining us, and boys to top it off." Her grin was entirely free. Renni was always good to the kids and made sure she packed their favorites. "Derryc, do you ahve a favorite food you want Renni to pack for you?"
