It was if he thought for a few seconds, and he nodded, with the hint of a grin on his face, "I think Solarith would like that very much." He looked at hands folded in font of him. He knew the bronze would-after all, he did have a certain gold fever, and he also was a social creature who enjoyed company while sunning and swimming. It might be good for him. Then, he said, looking sharply up at her, "Could you tell me about this Weyr's history. I only got a general overview. I think you'd be the leading authority to ask."
He was growing more curious about this poisoning topic, and he had not heard too much about it, other that is was a disaster. There were some who said that it could happen again. That was mostly paranoid thoughts, but he would like to know about it, to perhaps protect Solarith, his companion and partner.

Sharieth would be pleased that Ruet had put in a word for her. Now she would have to share another Bronze admirer with her twin and the young Amenth. She knew about the WEyr, yes. It had been her home these past few turns, recent history ought to be enough she thought. Taking a moment before she spoke she started with, "This is not going to be a short telling. So please, make yourself comfortable." Ruet said.
" I shall start with when the Twins were clutched, the Queen dragon, Lamenth died. Her rider, Arian suicided. The clutch hatched sickly. Both twins impressed though Sharieth almost died more than once. Zhariath flew first and was caught by Fierzath. Sharieth rose for the first time about 6 months after her twin and was caught by Wasanth. The following turn threadfall began which meant many losses. We were not prepared to lose so many so soon.
Two turns after this, a mysterious shipment of herdbeasts appears. Unknowingly the Weyr uses the poisoned animals for food, both for dragons and human consumption. The Weyr was poisoned easily. Many dragons and humans were lost, some dragons even betweened from the panic. I can tell you I didn't get any sleep that night. Since then we have been spied on by the local Lordship and sent an invitation to his Lordship to come to our Hatching.
There are a lot of people here suffering from losses of loved ones. you will soon see the melancholy ones. Do not judge them too quickly as the quiet sort." Her eyes had somehow managed to stay dry for the telling. Often she thought she could ahve done more, there had to have been a way to protect them or even save them. She was only twenty and yet she had a world of responsibility on her slight shoulders.

G'del, being fiercly proud, felt terrible for their losses, he had no idea how much was gone, and he had no idea the queens had been in trouble. He supposed that he wasn't told too much to turn him off of transferring, and was sure that Southern would have never let him go if it were dangerous here. Even so, parts of him wish he had been able to do something. Perhaps his little vow to help Ruet get time for healing was not such a double sided deal. Sure, there was a chance he could be humiliated by his peers, but if Ruet could help and heal to make sure such things never happened again, even teach other riders, he would risk it. G'del wasn't usually a gambler, usually cautious and slow at making descisions, but still he was moved.
As she told her story, compassion, fear, and anger all flashed in his eyes, breif flickers of emotion lit up his face. Most of the times G'del had strong control, but his connection with dragons and love for Solarith left him open, almost raw. How could anyone knowingly do that to a Weyr? To try and intentionally paralyze or mortally wound a Weyr? Then thread. Well, he knew he would help that. He had to perhaps not be so traditional about his wing movements and work with perhaps a smaller wing than he was used to. Aye, his days were looking busier and busier by the minute. G'del, by now sitting back in his chair and lighting rubbing his chin as if in thought, looked at Ruet, "I had no idea it was. . .I mean, I couldn't imagine what you must have went through. I mean, all of you. And I think I stress this even more, I think I must help you, so that you can continue and grow stronger as a dragonhealer. Between thread and poison, this is a dangerous world who needs capable women like you. So who would I be if I didn't do all that I could behind the scenes? There might be risks, so I ask you: Where can we meet? I can do work for you in the evenings,"
He wanted to perhaps ask her to have dinner with him before they went off to work, he at womanly chores and she at healing, but he could not bring himself to say it in the way that he meant, he could only propose it as business, nothing intimate or anything. "And if you want, we can eat before, and you know, talk about what I'm going to be doing for you." He paused and rubbed the back of his neck like a nervous teenager asking a girl out for the first time, "But you don't have to, I know the whole reason of this is to, uh, save you time not take it up, but I think I can really benefit from, ah, uh, a confrence before I get started so I know what I'm doing. . . But you don't have to if you don't want."

His emotional outrage, though controlled, was noticed by the young woman. In fact she was heartened that he had so much love for the Weyr when he had only just arrived that day. G'del was, from what she had seen in this brief time, very passionate about dragons. His first few statements did not suprise her. Yes it had been rough but now they were trying to regroup and be stronger.
"Yes. Some people still see that day as yesterday and are not over their grief.." His words that followed did cause her own breath to catch and she was unable to understand how he could hold her in such high regard from such a short span of time. What was she to say. That was twice now in a few minutes he had entirely caught her off gaurd. Recovering her voice more quickly than before she smiled, "It is wonderful of you to offer to help me even though you will certainly be strained for time yourself."
He was right they needed to set up a time and a place. Perhaps dinner would be the best time to discuss things, since she was forced to make time to eat every meal, by her own dragon... "We could meet at the Weyrhall and dine while we discuss plans. I'm usually there just after sundown myself. What would be the best time for you. Since you have been gracious enough to help me, it would certainly make more sense to go off of the time you would like to start."
She was shy about these things. Perhaps he was simply trying to help her because of her status. Rue would rather believe he was doing it because he liked who she was. That was a rare occurence. After all hadn't F'sen always been geared toward that aspect. Ruet wondered how a stranger could offer to help her when her own mate would never have even mentioned it.

He felt as if he was decieving Ruet just a little bit. He was very attracted to her, yes, but he also was attracted to the romance of a Weyr, the dragons, and the threadfighting. To loose these things would probably kill him, and if he could get more healers and people to help prepare his beloved home (Whether it be Fort or Southern or Ponaa) he would do anything. That was why he offered his help, for Solarith's advantage if the bronze was ever wounded by thread or poison, he'd want a healer at his access. Even though his first motivator was worry and greed, he found that another healer would be beneficial for the entire Weyr, which turned his motivation to be noble. And as he talked to her, the more he learned about her and saw her, the more he liked her. She reminded him of his greenriding sister, but more powerful, but even so. Ruet seemed kinder and less blunt than his brassy sister could be. And Ruet was talented. He snapped his thoughts away from those of fancy. This would be no time to think about women. He just met the queenrider. And he DID NOT believe in love at first site. What a silly fool he could be. He should be working on wing plans and practices and. . . He looked at her again. Yet at times, Ruet made his tongue go soft and he studdered.
While helping her out was for the good of the Weyr, asking her out to dinner was all for him. G'del wanted to be friends with her at least. After all, she did already have a Weyrmate. He didn't want to romantically advance on her lest her current mate would be mad at him. He had to think of his reputation. He did not want to be known for how many women he chased, or how many mated women he chased. Plus, if she did love her weyrmate, he did not want to get between them. So it was better that everything they did was strictly business. He nodded, "Yes, sundown would be good, by that time wing practices will be done."

She nodded at his answer. "In the meantime if there is anything you need, let me know." Ruet was sure he would at least let her know if there was anything seriously wrong, the little things people generally didn't bother her with, unless they were deadglows. "I better be on my way. Other duties to attend to. Once again, welcome to your new home." She smiled warmly and then walked towards his door.
She was glad she had made it through the conversation without feeling the man was entirely arrogent. He and K'leren would get along well, she thought absently. She would wait to see how G'del turned out, since most people were not their normal selves when a great change occured. If he was still who he seemed to be in a few days she would be much suprised.
Of course of all the Gold riders she had the worst outlook on Bronzers. Could not trust them to do anything unless they thought they would get something out of it. On top of it they all had arrogant tendencies as if they were worthy enough to talk to any of the Golds without permission. Personally she ranked them lower than the youngest weyrling green.

"Of course, I know you have a lot to do. But, thank you, Ruet," He nodded to her as she walked out, but only when she turned from him, did he dare smile. He didn't want to seem like he was trying too hard. "I would hope that you visit me again some time, Goldrider," He stood, seeing her out the door. She would probably be skeptical of him, she was used to bronzeriders sucking up, probably. He knew many of his fellow bronzeriders tried to suck up to the Weyrwomen at Southern and Fort.
