Kabhi smiled a secret smile. She was glad he'd gotten the man to snap out of it. She was so happy she even followed the man into the Creche. The nannies hadn't seen her before, so they were a little oogle-eyed, but she ignored them. H'var looked for his child, and she waited patiently. A little boy tugged at her leathers, so she looked at him. "Can I help you, Sweetling?"
"Puzzle? Help?" He was so cute. Clear blue eyes, red hair, and the palest skin she'd ever seen.
She smiled. "Sure, little Sweetling." She squatted and pulled the large wooden pieces closer to her and the child. The pattern, of course, made a simple dragon. "I think this goes there," she said, pointing one of four pieces to its appropriate spot in the frame.

He was obvioulsy catching many of the children's eyes, since they mostly had dragonriding parents. Wearing his leather might have been a bad idea. H'var didn't have much time to contemplate as he suddenly found that a young child had attached herself to his leg. "DA- DEE!" The two turn old looked up at him practically glowing. the brown haired girl had grown a little darker as she had gotten older. She had been born with a more olive skin tone like himself but she was a shade darker than him now.
HE pickd her up off the floor and hugged her. "I missed you, darling." She nuzzled her head into his neck. "Da dee. I go wit you?" It was clear to him that she was moving on a lot better than he was. "Well Daddy brought his friend so we have to find her first. Help me look..."
Mehava was set on the ground and walked around till her golden eyes rested on Kahbi. "I FOUN' HER!" H'var was only a few steps behind the child who was a good mix of himself and Meran.

Kabhi helped the little boy place the last piece of the puzzle, and then waved as he tottered off with the completed piece held to his chest. She smiled. He had been a good little boy. She wondered who he belonged to, with that hair and those eyes.
"I FOUN' HER!" a little voice hollared out from behind her. Kabhi turned quickl;y, still crouching. She was very fit and in great shape for playing with children. She hadn't realized how much she missed a living area full of kids until she came here.
"Hello. You must be Mehava." Kabhi nodded at the little girl, smiling calmy and looking at the girl on her own level. "I'm Kabhi. It's nice to meet you." She smiled up at H'var. "What a sweetheart."

H'var smiled at his daughter's enthusiasm. When she found Kahbi she shouted, much to his suprise. Nodding yes to being herself, Mehava smiled innocently. "Kaw bee." She tried to pronounce the woman's name correctly. H'var watched the interaction between the girl and the woman.
"Yes, she is. You have any plans this afternoon Kahbi?" He asked genuinely. If he was going to spend time with his daughter it would be great to have Kahbi around.

That's much better. Kabhi smiled at the little girl. "Very good. You can call me Bee if it's easier. All my brothers and sisters did. And I had a lot of them!" What a cute girl.
You like her. Alth, ever-so-observant.
I do. She's a sweetheart, Kabhi replied.
"You have any plans this afternoon, Kabhi?" H'var asked her. She looked up to him from his little girl. She was momentarily suspicious, but she quickly realized that he was being genuine in his request.
"No, I don't. Alth's been bathed, and wing drills were held at an unbearable hour this morning." She winced. She hated getting up that early. But she'd do it for the good of the weyr. "Why do you ask?"

Mehava, young though she might be, was not used to all the one on one attention Kahbi was giving her. She smiled and said, "okay Bee." The little girl looked up at her dad when Kahbi did. He found both of them looking up at him a bit unnerving.
"If you want, your more than welcome to come along with little Hava and myself." He really could use the advice later. To see if he acted normal enough around his daughter. He didn't want to seem too melancholy around her. He wanted her to be whole, healthy and happy. Etrayth had no objection to that. So, should you. Someday maybe I will. Not today, probably not to tomorrow or the day after but in time I will be. Finally some sort of sense comeing out of that brain of yours.

Kabhi smiled. "I'd love to." It really sounded like a lot of fun. She'd forgotten how much fun it could be to play with young children. This would be interesting. And Mehava was such a sweet young lady. She turned to the little girl. "Mehava, is that okay with you? If I come play with you today?"
And it seemed as though H'var's healing process had begun. With Kabhi as a catalyst, H'var seemed as though he would heal. He would need time to grieve in a healthy way, and he would need time to reattach himself to his daughter, but that would all be accomplished now.

Mehava looked from her father to this female stranger and came to the conclusion that it was fine. "Uh huh." She walked away from Kahbi then and moved toward her father. Her tiny hand slipped into his larger one. H'var felt strange holding the small hand. Not uncomfortable, simply strange. It might take time to let himself be attached to anyone again.
"Wonderful. That's settled then. Where to 'Hava?" The man addressed his daughter who shrugged and looked to Kahbi. "Where do you wanna go?" She asked the greenrider sweetly.

"Well, Mehava, I'm not sure. I've never gotten to play at the Weyr. Do you know any good places?" she asked, raising to her normal height. After leaving her family for this place, she hadn't ever scoped out the good playsites or anything like that. "What are the best playgrounds here?"
H'var almost looked uncomfortable with the little girl. Kabhi nodded impercepively; he would get over that in time. When he got back into the rhythm of being a father, he would be fine. He had just disconnected himself for so long that it had become unnatural to him to hold the girl's hand.

The child knew better than to show the grownups everything, specially places she wasn't supposed to go. "Maybe we go swimming?" She said as she remembered the lake. The child liked to see the dragons too. Maybe she would get to see Etrayth? The child didn't say that alloud.
H'var thought about the weather and suggested that swimming might not be the best thing to do. Maybe they could go for a walk around the lake and play outside though. He hoped he didn't sound mean. Of all things he did not want to ruin his relationship with his children. Thus far he had been a poor father.
"Maybe Etrayth and Alth can come too." He suggested as a way to make it up to her. Looking to Kahbi to make sure that it was alright with her that he had suggested the green could come...

"Mehava, I have to agree. It's a bit chilly for swimming. But a walk around the lake does sound good." She smiled at H'var. "I'm sure Alth would love to. Let me ask." First, though, she tested to see if the dragon was awake.
Yes? She was. Good.
"Alth, would you like to come on a walk? Or perhaps swim in the lake? Brown Etrayth will be there," she added. Not that it would make a difference to the green. She didn't care about most other dragons.
Yes, I will come. I can swim.
"Alth says she'd love to come. She'll meet us there." Kabhi chuckled. "Which means she'll be there and long in the water before we even get out of the Weyr."

H'var meanwhile contacted Etrayth, who was slightly perturbed that he was being distrupted. Here I was lying down in the sun all snug and you ask me to go down to the lake for some scrawny little brat... MY scrawny little brat. Whatever. Besides, you will be glad to know that you will have some draconic company. Alth will be there too. The brown muttered incoherently. I am only going because I would hate to seem a rude dragon. Uh huh. H'var shook his head slightly and then returned his attention to his female comapanions.
"Da dee. You know any good stories?" It was clear that grown up talk would not be interesting enough to hold her attention. Afterall both the grownups were barely talking so there wasn't much to listen to and she was bored.
H'var thought about it but wasn't sure which ones she knew and which ones she didn't. "Which ones do you like?" He looked down and then back at his helper... Faranth help him he didn't know too amny children stories anymore.
