H’seo sat comfortably on the ground near the lake, his short hunting bow and arrows spread before him on an outstretched cloth. In his hands he held the wide, flat knife he used to field dress his kills, scraping the metal rhythmically on a whetstone. They had just returned from a rather successful hunting trip in the woods, and the bluerider had noticed the blade dulling a bit. The straps on his quiver were also beginning to grow thin, which he needed to get some wherhide to repair. His grey eyes wandered critically over his handiwork as he used to his thumb to test the sharpness of the blade, rubbing gently on the edge. Scowling, the wingrider began to run the steel across the whetstone more, not quite satisfied with the results yet. As he worked, Reinth watched him from a low ledge, always interested by the tools his rider used.
Why does the blade dull? The blue asked, his tail thumping in time with the sharp, harsh noise of the knife rubbing the whetstone. His rider had already explained why he practiced this exercise on the steel occasionally many turns ago, and the dragon understood. What he did not know was why it needed it. My claws never dull.
The wingrider grinned to himself as his dragon’s matter-of-fact voice invaded his mind, flicking his thumb along the blade. Ah, now it was sharp. This knife ain’t your claws, partner. Nature does the work for you, but I get stuck with this little chore. The man drawled, slipping the knife back into it’s simple leather scabbard. Setting it aside, H’seo looked upward to see a wing practicing above, and found himself watching their drills. As his eyes wandered to the greens, Isleith came to mind, and he easily recalled the first time he had the privilege of watching her in flight. She could dive and soar so gracefully, she made it look effortless. Elske sure was a mighty good rider, not to mention a mighty pretty lady. He wished she could join him now instead of flying Search.
I second that. Reinth added, his mind centered upon the lady green he was so very fond of. She was the only dragon the blue had ever felt comfortable around, and the only one he had ever wanted to be with.
H’seo’s grin only widened at the blue’s sentiments, his eyes finally breaking from the wing above to return to the weapons before him. The rider picked up an arrow and held it between his fingers, twirling the wood. He was almost bored at the moment, considering how long it had been since he and the boys had stirred up a mite of mischief. Nothing serious, really, just a bit of roughneck fun. And deep down, those farmboys were certainly roughnecks.
((I am trying to figure out what they can do. I don’t mean mischief as in pulling pranks, but I mean getting themselves into some FUN. We could even recruit other riders if we think of something good enough. Since dragonriders don’t go on rides, have mud slings, or rodeos, I don’t know what to do with my farmboy. O.o Wish they had rodeos.))

"Are you satisfied?" A'rik asked Cerenoth. He was soaking form the water that the brown had slung all over him. Tyra chittered at Cerenoth, as the weter had landed on her as well. Meek had poked her head out of his jacket, as she was courrious as to why her hidding place was all of the sudden wet. Li was curled up on a nearby ledge, and had missed all of the water.
I'm very satisfied with this cleaning, it is much better than the ocean. I am not as dried out as I usually am. was the verry happy reply of the brown. Now that Cerenoth was taken care of, A'rik had nothing to do. He was in a good mood, somthing that was rare indeed now days. A'rik wanted to do something, but what? A short flight sounded fun enough, but then what? I would love to take a short circle arround the bowl, I will dry faster that way.
A'rik laughed, "Are you dry enough to fly now?" He asked, not sure that the dragon was. Another thought came to him. "Are any of the other riders bored." He asked hoping for some fun. He waited for the dragon to ask and get a reply,
Yes I can fly. He did as asked and asked if there were any other bored riders. Cerenoth hoped that there was at least one. His rider was so rarely in a goog mood. He wanted the good to last.

Reinth watched lazily as his rider placed the arrows back in his quiver, slinging the shortbow over his shoulder. H’seo also slipped his knife in his belt and wrapped the whetstone up in a cloth, stowing the items away in the pack he had brought with him. The wingrider slung the bag over his shoulder and called for his blue, the dragon landing obediently and landing them at their weyr a few short wingbeats later. Hanging his bow and quiver on the wall and packing away his repair tools, the tall man straightened and walked to the ledge. Eh, let’s go back to the lake, partner. There ain’t nothing to do up here. The bluerider drawled, swinging his leg over the dragon’s neckridge and settling himself as the great beast took off.
It is dull, and I am bored. Reinth complained mildly, landing right at the lake’s edge so the waters brushed against his claws. Suddenly, the blue’s head lifted, and his whirling gaze pointed towards a brown just exiting the cold waters. H’seo could hear a mental chuckle. Brown Cerenoth’s rider asks if there are any other bored riders at the moment. Shall I reply?
Fall yes there are other bored riders. H’seo exclaimed, grinning as he watched the other wingrider with his three firelizards. He had seen the man about the weyr before, but since he rode in Alpha the bluerider had never really spoken to him. Yet he was always up for some fun, and had he not just been wondering at how long it had been since he had been rowdy with the boys? His grin widened, and become noticeably more mischievous. The rider swung down from Reinth’s neck, approaching the brownrider and holding out his hand to clasp forearms with the other. “Howdy. I’m H’seo of blue Reinth. My partner tells me I ain’t the only bored rider around here.”
Reinth, meanwhile, was studying the firelizards that flew about the man, his eyes whirling faster. H’seo owned no flit, so he was unfamiliar with them. Then his attention swung to Cerenoth. Greetings, brother. Are you as bored as Yours?

A'rik was aware of the bluerider coming before he got there, as Cerenoth had told him of Reinth's reply. He had been looking as the blue glided down to land right on the edge of the water. When the rider came over to introduce himself, A'rik gladly took his hand. "Name's A'rik, and that is Cerenoth." He said gestering to His. "You've been told right. So, now that we have company, Let's come up with something to do." A'rik gave a hearty laugh, that wasn't real loud, but it was friendly. He noticed that Reinth was looking at Li and Tyra. Introduce them Cerenoth, Reinth may like one of thier massages.
Cerenoth called the two over, knowing that Meek would not leave A'rik. Li landed on the tip of his nose, while Tyra flew lazy circles arround the two dragons. This is Li, and that is Tyra. They give good scratches. I am just as bored. Are you? Cerenoth gave a great yawn that proved his point. The sun felt good on his hide, with shown in good, clean health, but the brown was not sleepy enough to take a nap on a ledge. He wanted to play.

H’seo gave the brownrider a firm arm clasp and a good, solid handshake upon their introductions, grinning as he did so. A man could tell much about another just by shaking his hand, and the bluerider already liked A’rik by his strong, open manner. He seemed pretty sturdy and simple, just the type of guy the wingrider could get along with easily. “It’s a pleasure, A’rik.” The farmboy drawled, his grin becoming far more lopsided and mischievous as the other spoke. There were plenty of things he enjoyed, several hobbies that he practiced frequently, such as hunting and tracking. The dark-haired rider always found himself most comfortable surrounded by the untamed expanse of nature, the primitive forest matching a certain wildness within him. He was a roughneck at heart, and nothing would change that.
An idea was beginning to blossom in the bluerider’s mind, but he was unsure if A’rik would want to join him. To him, he knew just what he needed right now, something both fun and a little crazy. Something to break up the monotony. Now to see if his new acquaintance agreed. “Well, I reckon we ain’t the only two riders that are bored around here, A’rik. With both Beta and Alpha out of the air right now, there are sure to be some of the boys that are restless. And you get enough rowdy boys together...” Here H’seo shrugged, leaving the rest unsaid. Between them all, they were sure to think of something to do. An unrest was writhing within the wingrider, a strange sensation of restlessness that made him want to do....something. “I don’t know what it is, but I just want to have fun. You got anything you want ta’ do?”
Reinth watched the firelizards with interest, amused as Tyra began circling about him and the brown. They were actually rather pleasant, in his opinion, and what the other dragon told him about their scratches was enough to convince the blue he liked flits. Do they? Perhaps they would be kind enough to show me some day. He said, then let out a mental chuckle. That bored and more, brother. There are times when bathing and swimming just gets too old. Reinth was in healthy color, and his hide was obviously oiled regularly and well cared for, so he lacked for nothing. He was only bored and wanted to do...something. But what?

A'rik was impressed by his handshake. He hadn't thought the bluerider to be quite so strong. A'rik also noticed that the rider didn't have a firelizard. "Why don't we go firelizard egg hunting." That was a good way to do somthing, and at the same time get to know him, besides, you never knew what could happen when out, with only nature surrounding you.
Cerenoth asked Li and Tyra to give the massages. The tow landed on Reinth's head, and began to scratch the blues eye ridges. The two chattered happily as they worked, anticipating the attention they would get for being so good. Cerenoth watched, his eyes whirrling happily.

((Wow. Love the sig ^_^))
Reinth rolled his eyes upward as the two little greens landed on his head, trying to see what they were up to. Of course, he could not see them clearly, but when their tiny claws began scratching on his eyeridges the dragon let out a great sigh. Thank you, little ones. You are most expert scratchers. The blue rumbled happily.
H’seo nodded to the brownrider as he released his hand, rubbing his chin as he considered the suggestion. He had no firelizards of his own, and a hunt along the beaches certainly sounded appealing. Hunting was one of his passions. “Sounds like something I could sink my teeth into.” The bluerider agreed, grinning as he did so. He then turned to his dragon, and burst out laughing at what he saw. Partner, that’s lazy.
I like firelizards. The blue stated, lowering his head so that his eyes were level with his rider’s. Go find some for us.
H’seo grinned at that, shaking his head at his dragon’s demand. Well, who could say no to that? Turning back to A’rik, he jerked his thumb toward Reinth. “Well, I’ve just been commanded by my own dragon to git him some firelizards. Fine thing when your own dragon tells ya what to do.” The wingrider said.
Suddenly, a man approached the two wingriders, a smirk on his face. “H’seo, you good-for-nothing bluerider, what are you up to?” T’ryus clapped his wingmate on the shoulder heartily, then turned to the brownrider. “And you are A’rik of Alpha. Greetings.”
H’seo gave a lopsided grin. “Well, if it ain’t the talentless...err...talented Weyrharper.” He drawled, smirking mischievously. “We were about to go huntin’ for a firelizard clutch. Think you could handle that, tenderfoot?” The two were obviously friends exchanging good-natured banter, but it was not much of a surprise. They both did ride in Beta.
The greenrider arched a brow in reply. “Just because I’m not a backwards farmboy, you sharding redneck, doesn’t mean I’m a complete deadglow outside these walls.” He grinned, then shrugged. “Sure I’ll go. Where are we heading first?”

((it was too big... and it won't get any smaller... oh well.)) A'rik laughed at the mention of dragon commanding rider. H'seo didn't know how demanding Cerenoth could be at times. I am not demanding! Cerenoth told his rider sounding hurt. But I would be suicidal if you weren't. A'rik told him as a way of appolligizing. No you wouldn't, you would not want me to die to. Cerenoth was stuborn at all things. No I wouldn't, but you wouldn't be you if you were not demanding. Yes I would, and you wouldn't know that I could be demanding if I wasn't. Cerenoth sounder happy that he won the argument, and sat up in one of his bronze poses, full of dignaty.
A'rik hadn't noticed the other rider until he had said A'rik's name, as he had been talking to Cerenoth. A'rik was a little startled, but did not lose his composure. "Yes, and greetigs to you too!" He said heartilly.
A'rik laugh as the two were obviously close freinds. When asked A'rik answered,"We could start at the beach, I've heard of nests down there. Unless you know of a better spot harper?"

((I forgot about this post...so sorry!))
T'ryus nodded to the brownrider slowly, rubbing his chin as he thought. Many of his fellow riders with the small pets had found the little creatures on the beach, so that was obviously the best place to begin. "Agreed, good brownrider. I know of a spot where a fellow greenrider of mine found a clutch, so I'll have Lyreth give your dragons the location."
While the boys were jawing, the green took the opportunity to land delicately beside the other two dragons, arching her neck and coiling her tail playfully. She lived for flirting with the handsome males of Ponaa. Hello, Cerenoth, Reinth. A most lovely afternoon, aye? She tilted her head to the side coyly, flirting shamelessly.
Always the amorous one, love. The Weyrharper teased, flicking his black eyes in her direction briefly.
The green replied with a snort. What male would not be honored to receive MY attentions? She asked boldly, then dismissed her rider with a flick of her claws. The man grinned.
Oh...h-h-h-h-ell, L-l-l-lyreth. Reinth replied, getting flustered. He never could talk to a single female, save for Isleith. She was the only green he ever really felt comfortable around. And the only one he wanted to flirt with. The blue quickly lowered his head beside his rider as if terribly fascinated with the human's conversation. He would not flirt with another dragon!
'Tsk'ing, the green turned from him, ruffling her wings. He was always such a shy one, that Reinth, and his dismissal of her stung. She would not forget it for quite some time. So, dear brown, how are you? I do hope you are well?
H'seo grinned and shrugged in reply to T'ryus. "I ain't ever found a clutch, so I wouldn't know. Lead on, boy." Nodding, the greenrider turned and strode to his dragon, swinging up with practiced ease. Lyreth received the location from her rider, then shared it with the two boys. She waited for their replies, then rose up and betweened to the beach.

I am good. Cerenoth said, not really into flirting, but into a good conversation. The big brown picked up his head, that was now completly dry. Do you want a scratch? Cerenoth asked, remembering his manners, and quite willing to share his friends.
Quite the gentle-dragon, are we? A'rik teased. She is female, and should be treated so. The brown said matter-of-factly.
A'rik nodded to the Weyrharper, and bounded up onto Cerenoth, with a practiced grace. He waited for Cerenoth to get the location, and when he did, took off, then went between just high enough off the grownd.
