Ki'lair walked quickly to the infirmary, his face set and stony. He was met by a young similarily dark woman with a face expressing the worry that Ki'lair was feeling inside. He gave her a large hug, she was the only person he hugged. "Asken?" He said her name as a question. "He's over here." She said and tugged at the wingthird by the hand. "This is the third time this month." He said matter of factly. "Yah, they had said it should be getting better, but i don't see that." He nodded. On the bed she led him to lay a many not much younger than him with wild eyes and sweat pouring down his face. Every once and a while the man reached out a hand, grasping for somethign that wasn't there moaning, "No, no, you come back!" and things like that.
"I found him a few candlemarks ago, burning up. He'd obviously had another fit." She said. Ki'lair nodded. Ever sense Arianan's Neinoth had gone between, these fits were more and more common. It had been quite aweful for Ki'lair to come to Ponaa and find his father's side of the family, but all he discovered were two half siblings. One with two many responsbilities, and the other driven off the edge in despair. He was used to being summoned from various things now by Alazrath to the infirmary, when his brother would get worse again. Asken was always there first.
"Where is the healer?" He asked. "She went off somewhere, she said his fever had spiked and he was stabilizing now, so just watch him and call her if anything got worse." She replied. He nodded and without saying anythig got up and left the bedside to explore the infirmary, hoping to find soemone who could answer a few of his questions about his brother.

Ruet walked into the infirmiry, a look of pleasure on her face. She loved this place. It wasn't often that she looked happy to be there, but today was a good day. Rue looked in on all the patients, especially those that rode dragons. It was really part of the job, to make sure of the Weyr's health. At least she had convinced herself of that. It was not long before she approached Ki'lair and his sleeping brother.
"Bronzerider." She nodded. Wondering who the person on the bed was. Curiosity as always getting the better of her. "Everything alright over here?" She asked though she could easily see that everything was not alright.

Ki'lar didn't look at the woman as she approached and nodded slightly. "Aye healer. I just had a few quet-" He turned around and saw who it was. "Oh great apologies m'lady. I did not see it was you. Please forgive the rude slip of my tongue." He nodded to her politely. Asken looked up briefly at the Weyrwoman but then turned back to her full-brother. She was after all only a greenrider and didn't trouble herself with those of rank, besides her brother.
Ki'lair paced a moment, taking a few steps away from is brothers bed. Even though it was obvious the ex-brownrider would not here him, he didnt like discussing what had happened in Arianan's presence. "As fine as it ever is." He said now, simply. "His dragon died." He offered simply. It eplained most things. Losing a dragon left men like this. Helpless, insanse, fighting for their own will to live.
"May i ask what you are concerning yourself with in this dreadful place?" H asked before remember, "Apologies again, i forgot you were a healer." He smiled briefly at her and glanced over at his brother. "Have you seen many dragonless?" He asked softly. Well since thread and the poisoning, probably more than one as young as her ought to.

Ruet smiled benevolently at the his confusion. She really didn't expect him to think she would be the one talking right away. "You were forgiven before you even said it." In other words she would never reprimand him for mistaking her for someone else. Accidents were common among the human population after all.
She had not waited for his reply to mentally note of all that she saw around the person in question. There were a few dragonless after the poisonings. Ruet was glad once again that the casualties were not as bad as they could have been. The young woman could not imagine having to live without Sharieth. She probably would not try. In fact she'd ask to be dropped between to die.
"There are a few of them, now shadows of their former selves. The poisoning affected a lot of people." Loss of a loved one almost compared to loss of a dragon but not quite. No one really knew how much Ruet had done then to save people. She often wished she had more dragonhealing skills. "I am a healer... yes... but it is also the job of the Weyrwomen to make sure of the Weyr's health, even if it means checking the infirmiry at all hours to see who is ill and what is being done for them." Ruet knew her duties were not only the infirmiry but it was the one chore she really liked to do...lucky for Lyrai , since that meant she didn't have to.
"He is a strong man to even attempt to live without is dragon." She said, though her voice was not proud it was concerned. What would he do when he was sane again? IT seemed to her she would have to find them all a place away from dragons, or they would be troubled more by their loss.

D'lon was not to far away arguing with a woman his same age. The two were in a heated battle, each red faced and clearly very angry. The woman had her hands on her hips and was staring holes at D'lon, who in turn gritted his teeth before yelling, "Venaru! What in Faranth's name stopped you from watching him? It was you who wanted a hand in rasing him, now perhaps you had a hand in getting his arm sharding broken! How could you be so stupid?!"
The woman, in return flung her arms out, screaming at her former mate, "My fault? MY FAULT? By the first Shell Deralon, It wasn't my fault I got knocked up. I didn't want a bloody brat! I didn't! You insisted on me carrying to term you nitwit. I only want a hand in his care so I can tell him who his no good father is! Anyway, I have too much sharding things to do, thanks to you I lost any hope at Impressing, so I have to work all day! I only looked away for a second! You have no right to blame me you lazy Weyrling."
D'lon harrumphed, "You still have a chance at Impressing. You're only twenty! It's not my fault you're scared of being mauled!"
Venaru barred her teeth and screeched. Then she narrowed her eyes and said sarcastically, "It's good to be a sharding man, isn't it? Sleeping with whatever woman he pleases and too bad if they had lives, children are a women's chore. Well maybe you should look after Devon."
"Maybe I will!" D'lon said shortly and turned his heel on the woman who gave birth to his only son. She only narrowed her eyes again and left the room to be with her son, who was with a healer. D'lon folded his arms across his chest and mumbled to himself angerly. "Sharding women..."

((Oh hey, Brimmy!...oh sheit i forgot to change it t just HG after she decided to join..well no worries. Welcome to the thread anyways heehee )) Ki'lair gave Ruet an appreciative smile. He knew some Weyrwoman weren't so understanding..well it seemed to him most women in general often got upset over the strangest things. He nodded sadly. "The poisoning was why i came here." He said after a moment. "I didn't know my family here...and i heard some had died and i had to go and find out you know. In case soemthing else happened and then i would never have met Asken." He nodded towards his sister. "And i never met Arianan really. He's been like this as long as i've known him. It's a shame." He said and stopped usddenly, surprised at himself for sharing so much. He wasn't emotional, more matter of fact, but it was tough subject. "Yah." He nodded, "I don't think i could live with it. Ad i don't envy you. I wouldn't chose healing, it makes you a better person than i. Having to deal with all this death and sickness. I was onyl a Weyrling Master, but even that was too much death for me." He replied and then looked up, surprised by shouting. He recognized the man who came in yelling by passing...oh yes, a few days ago on the feeeding grounds. D'lon was it. "Eh, Hello." He said in greeting to the newcomer.

D'lon, his arms folded in front of him, turned to face the bronzerider, his face still red from anger, his breathing still irregular for the same reason. He was stil fuming, and took a few seconds before replying. He had to bite his lip so that he didn't say anything too quickly. The bronze and the goldrider didn't do anything against him. It was that stupid wench Venaru. Dang woman! Now his son had a broken arm and a fever. "Hello," he said evenly. That was all he could must for now before he got his emotions in check. But he loved his son so much, and it killed him to see the boy hurt. It was true, he wanted Venaru to keep the kid. After seeing his father's wife failing to have live children, he had wanted this boy badly in case it happened to him. He wanted children. And if he never found another woman, well at least he had Devon. And now his only child was hurting. That hurt D'lon, and that caused him to pick fights with Devon's mother.

Ruet tried to listent to Ki'lair over the noise of the infirmiry, which had recently become louder. "It is hard seeing those we love in pain. Its easier when it is not someone you have grown attached to. Death doesn't bother me so much as seeing someone waste away."
It was apparent that the fighting pair were only growing louder until they ended their argument. "D'lon." She nodded but said nothing else to him for a moment before proceeding over to where his son lay. "Children often break bones. They don't look where they are going or pay attention to what their parent's say. I wouldn't worry over much, D'lon, your son is going to be perfectly fine. The Healers here have dealt with broken bones a million times."

Ki'lair nodded and walked back over to his brother while Weyrwoman adressed the greenrider. Ki'lair couldn't help but smile a little. He had no children that he knew of, but he'd seen countless numbers of young Weyrlings break things. The parents always thought it was the end of the world. He himself had broken to many bones to remember. Well that was Weyr life for you. If you wanted to grow upin a sheltered life, than go t a hold. But ths was one of hte reasons he loved the Weyrs.
He went back over to hi brother and rested his hand on Asken's chair. "I'm going to take a break."She whsipered to him. He nodded and took her place as she left. He felt the man's forehead. Arianan's fever had continued to cool off, so hopefully they would both be able to leave soon enough. Ki'lair had a few proposlas on wing tactics and formations he wanted to write for N'mos. Thank Faranth Lyrai had let him get away with nabbing a few the the records from the Weyrleaders' private records. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to complete his plan. WEll he wasn;'t really doing much here, besides watching his brother. He removed a few blank hides from his wherhide bag and began to write in small, neat black lettering. Keeping one eye on Arianan, The Weyrwoman and th Reenrider at the same time.

"Yes, I know, but it still worries me and. . ." He was going to say something about Venaru, but he figured that would be bad, especially to Ruet, who was a woman. Women tended to stick together, especially when it came to men. He shook his head, "I'm a father. I should have taken care of him. This shouldn't happened. . . I just. . . I just. . . feel so guilty."
He slumped into a chair next to his son's cot, Venaru was directly across from him, holding his son's hand. The lower caverns woman glared at her former mate and then stood up. Saying softly to her sleeping boy, "I'll see you later, Devon," And the woman left, leaving D'lon, Ruet, and Ki'lair-along with Ki'lair's brother.
