She waited until he decided to tell his story. After all, why should she have to tell and not him. Elske was not the type to pry too much into other people's private lives so she would never ask if he were available or not. Besides, she didn't really pay that much mind to such things.
"You must know a lot about the area then." the words expanded to a thought in her head, he probably knew a lot of quiet places. She remembered beinga Weyrbrat herself but it was a long time ago and only one or two things came specifically to mind. One of them was her favorite place, the other was her father as a young dragonrider. "I have not seen all that much..." She found herself looking directly at him, eyes straying a moment too long on his own.
Thrilled as she was about the attention, Isleith was not too distracted to note that the blue was becoming more comfortable with her. That would be wonderful. How are you going to go about it? Isleith wanted to know the details of this shy yet charming male's plan. Reinth was certainly someone she would like to know more and for a green like Isleith that was saying something.

H’seo shrugged, the trademark grin returning to his features. The layout of Ponaa and her surrounding region was something he could quite easily jaw about for candlemarks. “Not to be bragin’, m’lady, but I know this weyr and countryside like the back of Reinth’s neck. I’ve been all over that forest hunting, and fell down more than a few caves, hollers, and valleys along the way.” He was starting to feel more at ease, once more, the tension that had built in his jaw melting slowly away as they spoke. He felt bad for Elske, but he hoped that, perhaps, he could maybe get to know her a little better and wipe some of that away.
He watched the greenrider as she considered him, then felt his body stiffen when her eyes lingered on his. Their gazes locked directly, and the blueirder could not find the strength to break away. But then again…did he want to? No. Faranth help him, but there was something different about this woman. “You have seen more than you should have, m’lady.” H’seo said softly, his grey eyes lingering on her face.
Reinth felt as if he had been stopped in his tracks at the green’s question, almost as if someone had knocked him out of the sky while flying. He groped for an answer that would sound suave, but everything ended up too clichéd, or so cheesy that it was likely the lovely dragon would laugh in his face. However, he hesitated only a moment, then looked directly at her, his whirling eyes starting to quicken. He would not lose Isleith! He had known her only moments, but in that small space of time he had decided something. He liked her. A lot. First? I would never let a day go without telling you what a lovely green you are, and beyond that, whatever you would ask of me. The blue moved his head slightly closer, watching the lady beside him.

Elske laughed a little at that. "Well then you must know some great places to get away from the bustle of the Weyr." Sometimes even a person as social as Elske needed to be somewhere quiet. The more she thought about the people in her past the more she realized she had never met anyone like H'seo. It was not that he was nice, there were plenty of nice people around. She would have to become better acquainted with him to know what exactly it was about him that she found so different. All that mattered right now was that he was an easy talker and an easy listener.
Elske's green eyes pulled away from the gray ones first. She felt almost like a Weyrbrat with a crush. An odd nervous feeling in the pit of her stomach. Something she had not felt in a very long time. "Perhaps. Then again I do not really regret the past...it has shaped my present and presently I am very happy."
The green dragon listened to the blue's reply patiently. The words were well spoken. More importantly, by his tone, she knew he meant what he said. Reinth, you are without a doubt the most charming and wonderful dragon I've ever had the pleasure to become acquainted with. Isleith moved herhead so that she craned her neck towards him.

H’seo shrugged in reply to the greenrider, grinning as his mind wandered over the vast amount of land he had explored. He knew plenty of quiet places, sure, not to mention dangerous places, where some wild feline had set up it’s den, or deep caves where one fall could shatter your body and mean certain death. He had seen much in his travels, but still nothing could compare to the Weyr he called home. At the end of a long day of hunting, those towering walls were the most welcoming sight his eyes could behold. “Plenty, m’lady; glens mostly, but I’ve spotted a few coves along the beach that looked mighty peaceful, too.”
The bluerider considered for a moment, then grinned a little mischievously. He could also see a certain advantage to knowing the land so well. Since she was from Ista, she had said herself that she did not know much about the land outside of the Weyr, and H’seo knew it like the back of his hand. If she would like to be showed about a little, then he could spend more time with her. He liked that. “If you ever need a break, Elske, I’d be more than happy to show you around a bit. I’d love to spend a mite of time with a certain pretty greenrider.” He said, winking at her. His voice did not hold any innuendos of any kind, but merely an eagerness to get to know her better.
When she looked away, the bluerider felt his heart slip a bit, but he kept up his cheery demeanor, nonetheless. He felt as if someone had kicked him in the gut, and that was a feeling he had not felt before. Like a fluttering in his stomach, but not exactly unpleasant. It was odd to be feeling this way out of the blue, was it not? H’seo cleared his throat, trying to get back in control of himself. “I’m mighty glad you are happy, m’lady. I think…you deserve to be.” He said, still watching her despite that fact she had looked away.
Reinth was not expecting the lavish comment she graced him with. The blue was stunned by her reply, but significantly elated. She liked him! He was so thrilled, he did not know quite what to do with himself. His claws made tiny circles in the rock as his forelegs moved restlessly. Isleith, you are far too kind. The pleasure is mine. I can only hope that I will continue to be worthy of such a lovely green as yourself, as long as you will have me. With that, he closed the distance between them, and touched his nose gently to hers. His eyes whirled softly, hoping that, even though his words were insufficient, she would know how he felt.

"I'd like to explore the area a little. There must be many things around that I don't know about or notice." Elske would much rather have a guide of course. The edges of her mouth lifted in the beginnings of a smile. She wondered briefly at what sort of person thought so well of greenriders. Maybe he hadn't gotten himself into too many post flight problems. Unlike herself. No wonder greenriders had a bad reputation.
She nearly blushed as he spoke of wanting to spend time with her. He needn't worry about that. Elske was busy enough that she was not going to have much time to get herself into any other romantic entanglements. There was little she could do about her nature. She was always loyal to those she cared for but as a rule she didn't let herself get attached to men. That way they were easy to replace when the time came. As it always did.
Elske would not let herself believe that this would be different. She held onto the facts that men were not going to stay with her when there were so many people in the Weyr. She looked back up at him, aware that his gaze had not left her for an instant. The intensity of it was not as unnerving as she thought it would be. "I will have to make time to spend with a charming bluerider such as yourself." Oh and she would. There was no doubt about that.
Isleith reveled in the attention but also that she was flirting successfully with such a shy dragon. His response only made her more vain than before. Then he moved close to her and nudged his nose to hers. At first she was keenly aware that this meant more than a simple attraction for him but soon she too fell into the comfort of such a posture. She was so at ease that she nearly went to sleep.

H’seo could not stop the grin that curved his lips at her reply, his mind already sifting through the places he had discovered as he debated upon which one she would like the best. He certainly wanted to make her happy. “Just say the word, m’lady. I’ll be glad to take you out.” He was heartened, of course, by the small smile she graced him with, pleased that she had accepted his offer. The bluerider could sense something deeper here between them, an unspoken emotion that was strung tightly between the riders and was flowing against the ease. He was naturally sensitive to other’s sentiments, but he would not allow that unnamed discomfort to affect him. If he could spend more time with the greenrider, he was certain he could convince her of his sincerity.
Though not exactly a novice in the ways of love and lust, the bluerider was rather naive when it came to romance. The few flights Reinth participated in put H’seo in awkward situations, for he was never comfortable with the casual relations the weyr seemed to the teeming with. He could never take a woman to his bed just for lust, and even if he ever did bed a lady be knew it would be because he cared for her, not because he felt randy. The man was really a romantic at heart, and one day he was sure to get burned because of it. He, however, was blissfully oblivious to the fact.
“There you go gettin’ me flustered again, Elske.” H’seo said teasingly in reply, hardly believing that he could ever be called charming. A bumpkin with a farmer’s tan was anything but charming, right? Yet, the greenrider seemed to like him, and for that he could not have been more grateful. He knew he liked her. “So, m’lady, what do you do with yourself when you have some free time on your hands?” The bluerider asked, glad when she met his gaze once more with her own. He was curious as to what she liked to do, since he had been flopping his jaws like a wherry about himself without giving her much time to speak about her hobbies. The man watched her patiently, desiring to know much more about this dark-haired rider.
Reinth was, at first, nervous when Isleith did not reply, worried that he had perhaps insulted her or was too forward. However, it soon became obvious that although she spoke no more, the green was quite content with her current position. The blue was suddenly at a loss what to do next, and he quickly tried to think of what she might like. Should he move closer so they were side-to-side, or just curl his neck over hers? Either option sounded a little too...intimate, and he was far too concerned that he would scare her off. He was really too backward to know what females liked. Instead of trying one of those more daring options, the dragon decided to stretch his neck slightly farther so his cheek rubbed against hers, and their eyes were nearly right across from each other. He was just slightly taller than she. A low hum sounded deep in his chest, an audible testament to his happiness.

Taking a sip of her wine, she thought about what she did do in her free time. "I do a number of things. Mostly I try to have as much fun as I possibly can. For whatever is rest of my time I also try to visit my two younger children, Elian and Elryn." People in the Weyr didn't much care about how many children one had. Elske rarely had time for them which led her to wonder how anyone did.
"Isleith and I can be workaholics at times. Not to boast but Isleith is one of the best fliers in alpha wing. Certainly the best green. She and I have to work hard to keep that up. If we didn't some youngster just out of Weyrling training could easily take our place." Elske was competitive only with other greenriders. Isleith disliked other greens as they took away from her choices come flight time.
That might have answered his question. Truth be told she spent a lot of time, in lust with one man or another. After such alliances she spent more time with her wine though she would never admit to having such a dependence on the stuff. The truth would reveal itself in time as it always did, for now though she did not want to scare off H'seo.
Isleith let the blue do as he wished. He was being very cute and sweet so she decided to remain silent. Let him wonder what she was thinking. He seemed happy to her so she nuzzled him gently. Her body language should be enough for now. Isleith was not big on talking.

H’seo nodded to the dark-haired woman as she replied, rubbing his jaw with his thumb and forefinger as he considered her. It seemed to him that most greenriders didn’t give a flip about their whelps, so it was a refreshing change to hear her making an effort for them. “Don’t have any young’uns myself, but I always liked kids. It’s nice that you try an make time for them.” The bluerider lifted his mug and took a swig of the fresh klah the drudge had just brought, gazing appreciatively at the stew in the bowl before him. His stomach rumbled mightily, giving audible credit to his hunger. The tall man was lean and lanky, but he could put food away like crazy. His old man had always told him his legs had to be hollow for him to eat so much yet stay so skinny.
The bluerider had to laugh when she mentioned being a workaholic, considering that many of his wing thought the same of him. “I know about that, Elske. I was raised with a tool in my hands, so I like working up a sweat during drills and gittin’ dirty. Not a lot of riders get that.” H’seo shrugged and began to attack his stew with vigor, dipping his bread in the thick sauce and packing it away with remarkable swiftness. Being a farmer had also put him into the habit of eating as quickly as possible so one could return to their work all the more rapidly. He never really could shake that. As he ate, the wingrider listened avidly to his lady companion, nodding all the while. He knew the truth she spoke, and had to appreciate her all the more for working to keep herself in such admirable shape.
“I wouldn’t doubt Isleith could outfly the greens in Beta, too. Good legs on her, tough wingjoints.” H’seo commented, comparing her to the dragons that flew with him. Conformation had much to do with maneuverability and speed, and Elske’s partner was built streamlined. Coupled with their avid skill, it was no wonder they set the standard for green flying. "You'll have to show me some of that skilled flying some time." The bluerider briefly wondered what type of fun the lady liked to have, and grinned. He certainly thought he needed to be included whenever she was out to enjoy herself. “So, what exactly do you do for fun? Me an Reinth like to hunt, or find a swimming hole and hop in. How about yourself?”
Reinth had to wonder what the green before him was thinking, considering she had been silent for quite some time. He hoped to Faranth, and the rest of his ancestors, for that matter, that he would not ruin this. It was too wonderful to lose. Isleith surprised him by nuzzling him in return, and the blue felt a tingle run from his head all the way to his tail. It was a feeling unfamiliar but not at all unwelcome. Emboldened by her response, he slid his face along her cheek, then nuzzled his nose against her neck, rumbling lowly. He was almost like a giant feline.

Under most circumstances Elske would have tried to make herself out to be better than she was but in this particular instance she knew that it would feel wrong. "I really don't see them all that often. I'll have to foster Elian now she's old enough. Elryn isn't far behind." For not seeing much of his mother, Elryn's attitude was very much like her.
Elske finished her tubers. "Surely you flatter us. Isleith is very well confirmed. I'm only sorry she is not of Ponaa's bloodlines. It would make her an even better credit to the Weyr." She paused thinking on recent events around the Weyr. Wine in her hand she took a sip and set the glass down. "I hope this next Hatching is better than the last. The Weyr is beginning to lose any support it has had among the Holds. Some of searchriders are afraid of how they will be recieved this time."
Elske loved the Weyr, like a family. They never left you, rain or shine they were there everyday and she was always to be part of that till the day she and Isleith would go Between. Faranth be thanked that would not be anytime soon.
"Flying is our passion." Elske said with laughing eyes. There was more than one meaning in that. They loved to fly first and foremost but secondly they loved to be flown. Males were certainly their number two hobby. Elske did not wish to diminish H'seo by making him think that she had scores of men in her past. Still she knew a greenrider's reputation was easily found out.
Enjoying both the company of the male and the attention she was getting the green closed her whirling eyes. Isleith rested her head on Reinth's back, comfortable as can be. She was generally more comfortable with a warm body beside her. Thank you Reinth.

H’seo swiped the last of his bread around his empty stew bowl to clean up the broth, turning to consider the woman at his side. He had to admire her for being honest. “It’s a thread-bared shame riders ain’t got the time to spend with their whelps. It’s a rough life.” He said, shaking his head. How true the bluerider knew that to be. Unconsciously, a hand went to the long, ropey scar on his neck, an unsightly reminder of the Thread he and His could not avoid. Of course, his hands were so calloused and rough they felt nothing. A pained grimaced passed over his face briefly, but he shrugged it off and quickly regained his cheerful demeanor. It would not do to darken the mood with such somber reflections. Aside from that, it was not in the wingrider to be the sullen sort; he was always in a good mood and never dwelled on the past.
The man downed the rest of his klah, watching Elske sip more of her wine. H’seo never really drank wine, and many of his fellow wingriders thought he was an odd one not to indulge himself. He just had never found the taste all that satisfying, and preferred to stick to klah. It was a hearty, stout drink that stuck to his ribs. Of course, many considered this to be yet another uncultured aspect of his. He did not, however, look down on others who enjoyed a glass, it just was not his preference. A dark look passed over the bluerider’s face at the woman’s reflections, a macabre image of that hatching springing vividly into mind. Oh, how many marks he would give to forget that day, and the horrific events that had occurred. He could have bent that son of wherry Rakken in two.
“I ain’t ever gonna forget that hatching.” H’seo said softly, not bothering to summon his lighthearted appearance. That day was something that had embedded itself into his mind and placed it’s dark mark on him, like taking a knife and gouging it into the wound already slashed by the poisoning. It was a miracle straight from Faranth that Reinth was not harmed. The bluerider shook his head and met the woman’s gaze, his stormy eyes dark. What he would give to have the man responsible. “Those people, Elske, ain’t got the slightest idea what dragonriders suffer for them. They got the morals of a Bitran and the scruples of a tunnelsnake.”
The conversation abruptly became lighthearted, and H’seo grinned, nodding gratefully to the drudge that cleared away his bowl and brought him fresh klah. “You’ll have to show me that flying you keep boasting about, Elske.” The bluerider drawled, watching her with light eyes over the rim of his mug. Her gaze was bright and teasing, and he knew there was a certain innuendo beneath her words. Well, perhaps when Isleith rose, he and His would prove worthy of her attention further than just a simple meal in the weyrhall. That certainly appealed to him. “I’ll have to take you out to the forest sometime. Plenty of maneuverin’ room there.”
The shiver that had chased itself down Reinth’s spine returned, but this time with far more intensity. The feel of the green so close to him and her head resting on his back shoved his senses into overdrive, and his tail tapped rhythmically on the ledge. He was practically elated, but he dared not move for fear of disturbing Isleith’s comfort. Oh, that was the last thing he wanted to do. It was a wise saying, ‘When you find happiness, give it a comfortable seat,’ and he would take that to heart. The blue twined his neck over hers, shyness forgotten in the thick of the moment they had created. The dragon was content, and would watch over his lady until the day she would no longer have him. Not at all, Isleith. My pleasure. He said softly.

Nodding in aggreement to what he said she finished the last bit of food on her plate and then downed her wine. "Still, we can't leave them to their fate. As much as we might want to. Leaders of Holds may not care for dragonriders but I get the feeling that the common folk do." They could not be left open to thread just because of people like Rakken.
The greenrider was more than happy to move on to the happier topics. "Thats a deal Bluerider." She winked and looked around the hall momentarily. It seemed people were clearing out now. Not that she wanted to leave but the chairs weren't exactly comfortable for long periods of time. H'seo seemed more innocent than she was herself. Elske did not want to scare him off, not when they were getting along so well. She didn't like that many people, not personality wise. Too many of them were judgemental all the time and nagging and Faranth help her she hated being nagged at.
Isleith was pleased with Reinth's reaction. He was a very good blue. She fell asleep after he bespoke her one last time. The practices that day catching up with her tired body at last. There would be time for flirting later. For now she needed her energy, especially when tomorrow was looking like it would be another beautiful day.

H’seo laughed heartily at the woman’s response, his grey eyes bright and full of good humor. He was certainly heartened by her reply, and the wink she tossed him added a certain mischievous air to her expression. He liked it. He grinned at her in return, his lopsided smile adding a certain charm to his features. “A good deal.” The bluerider agreed. His gaze then followed hers about the weyrhall, and he was almost disappointed when he saw many of the riders clearing out. Besides that, though, sitting there so long had caused his rear to start getting sore from the chair. He needed to stretch a mite, and he was pretty sure she had to be feelin’ sympathy sores. Downing his klah in one quick gulp, the wingrider stood, offering his arm to the greenrider as he did so. “Well, I reckon we should be headin’ out, m’lady. Mornin’ gets here mighty early.” He drawled.
The bluerider knew that he wanted to spend more time with her, and his mind was turning swiftly with the opportunities to do so. Perhaps she would not have plans for the afternoon to come... H’seo quickly ticked through his schedule to see when he could take her out to the forest. Beta drills were usually after Alpha, so when practice had been completed he should have the rest of the afternoon to himself. He would ask her when they left the weyrhall. He had certainly taken a liking to the greenrider, just as his blue was becoming ever more besotted with her dragon. Speaking of which...
How’s it goin’, partner? Insulted Isleith into a huff yet? I know how good you are with women He asked teasingly. He knew how well the dragons were getting along.
Reinth mentally sniffed with indignation, careful to keep his voice low enough so as not to disturb the lovely green beside him. I, my dear rider, have done no such thing. MY female is settled comfortably by my side, asleep, while YOURS has a sore bottom from sitting too long. I can certainly see where you have the right to poke fun at me. You should give classes. Clearly the blue was feeling unusually clever that night. Satisfied that he had won the verbal brawl, the dragon lay his jaw on Isleith’s back, mimicking her position, and settled down happily to fall asleep. Son of a wherry, boy, somebody has the sharp tongue of a harper tonight. H’seo drawled, grinning. Funny dragon.
