I’d like to make a little note before I try joining. I was here once before and I made a Brownrider. I couldn’t get into his character, and I really didn’t have enough time to be part of this Weyr at that time. Due to an increased amount of time(Yay!) I’d like to try joining again.
I hope you’ll still accept me, and without further ado, here’s my Candidate!

Character
Name: Joshel
Rank: Candidate
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Origin: Ponaa Hold
Appearance:
Curly light brown hair with an easy smile, Joshel is confident. His hair, growing tightly in ringlets, has been the butt of many “girl” jokes, and is always cut as short. His eyes are green, and always gleam with good humor. He’s of average height, around 5’8”(and weighs 163lbs), and hopes to grow more soon.
Just as any other Holdboy, he’s muscular(mesomorph), though not enough to keep him from being teased. His teeth gap slightly in the front, but are reasonably straight, and white enough to keep his smiles pleasant.
He wears just about anything, with a feeling of gratitude. New clothes have always come on rare occasions, so he’s always happy to receive them, and he’s always careful not to stain, tear, or otherwise disfigure clothing, because it has to last him until he gets new ones.
Family:
Coresan(Mother)38, A slim, diminutive woman who can make a feast out of anything. Or nothing.
Khalif(Father), 40, A large balding man, who has a loud voice, and uses it to his advantage.
Kanero(Brother), 17, Tall and quick, this boy has good attention for detail.
Vanora(Vana)(Sister), 13, Small and quiet, when convinced to speak, she tells good stories
Larison(Brother), 9, Loud and talkative, getting him to be quiet is a chore
Ubana(Sister), 8, She is rather vapid
Vorasa(Sister), 3, Always smiling or laughing.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, but won't admit it
Personality:
Still young enough to be an idealist, Joshel is. Oh, sure, he’s no fink, and he knows where his idealism ends, but it’s still there. Everyone should do their fare share, Dragonriders are all good people, women are loving, men are strong- clichés live strong in this boy. He believes the best of people, and while that doesn’t always end well, he’s never been exposed to anything that wasn’t black, white, or superficial. He can have a very simplified view of the world, but most people don’t have a problem with being around a very positive person.
Having always related better to girls, and not boys, and having curly, “feminine” hair, Joshel’s been defending his sexuality since he was young. Wanting to look like a “Real Man”, Joshel has always been a bit ahead of his age group went it came to women. Even if his sexual identity turns our to homo- or bi- sexual, he’ll probably deny it vehemently. He’s confused as to how people can be open about being... that way.
With people, he’s friendly, always in the danger of over sharing, courtly, and sweet. Rarely, when in a truly foul mood, he’ll find someone and pick at something about them that irritates him, and woe be to those poor individuals. He’ll make it up to them later, but he can be a real brat.
Hobbies/Skills:
Boy or not, he can mend his own clothes(Skill with a needle!)
Likes to daydream(But shhh, he doesn’t want others to know)
Good with handling females, of all sorts, sizes, and ages.
Pets: No pets at this time
History:
The second son of a lower-middle class Joshel was well received into the family. More sons was always a good thing, and with two of them, there was safety- even in the next one was a girl.
Growing up, he was always closer with his younger sister, than to his older brother. The siblings that came after those two weren’t even really worth mentioning, at least not to him. He loved his older brother- but Kanero was being trained as his father’s heir, while they were waiting to see if Joshel was good at anything. His sister, not being singled out for special attention either, was a better partner for adventuring, and talking. Joshel, always good with people, was very different from his sister, but being family, that never mattered much.
Though Joshel never did develop a talent, he was still a boy, and a strong one at that. So, at a very tender age, his parents imposed a strong work ethic, and in the pragmatic way of poor family, they started him and his sister working as soon as they could.
Other than the bullies, Joshel lead a good life. When he was older(Read, around thirteen), the bullying got more specific. Joshel wasn’t very feminine, but he did have womanly curly hair, and most of his friends were female. Obviously, a majority of the young males at Ponaa decided, this boy was different from them. To make things look better, Joshel began courting a goodly portion of the females in his age group. He was the kind of boy who was envied then, and instead of being bullied, he helped other boys with his expertise. Joshel is good at those sorts of things.
He has recently been Searched away from his Hold, and while his mother and sibling cried and carried on, only excitement fills the heart of his boy. Impression is eminent!
Or at least, that’s what his heart says.
Color Preference: Green! Dunno if it fits him, but I love male greenies.
Sample RP:
The greatest honor(in this boy’s opinion, at least) in all of the world was to be a Dragonrider. After hearing some of the Harpers who often arrived in the Hold, (“Dragonriders, to sear the hungry Thread, Dragonriders, to be brave in times of danger, Dragonriders, the protectors of Pern!”), one just knew that Dragonriders ought to be the most prized people of Pern.
And it only made sense that every boy and every girl would want to be a Dragonrider.
Especially this one.
Joshel was lugging- something- from one end of the courtyard to the other. It was heavy, in sack that scraped at his hands, and was probably some sort of food source. The sacks had arrived this morning, in a flurry of activity, as they were pulled out of traders carts.
If only he had a dragon! He could simply Between all this junk over where it belonged, and go flying!
Besides- weren’t the other boys suppose to be helping him?
His eyes narrowed, Joshel stalked out of the courtyard, planning on dragging back his “friends” to work. He wasn’t going to let them out of it.
I hope you’ll still accept me, and without further ado, here’s my Candidate!
