F'dan had spent the last two candlemarks watching his newly acquired firelizard egg. What he was supposed to do with such a thing, he hadn't a clue. Luckily for him it seemed another person had brought her flit eggs down. The Junior Weyrwoman, seemed to be off in dream land but she was always helpful.
"Do you mind if I join you?" The soft voice came. F'dan never minded the company of a Gold rider. Though he did find them the most exasperating people on Pern. "Not at all Lady Ruet. Do you know anything about flit hatchings?"
Ruet hated Bronzers...or most of them... K'leren was obviously an exception and G'del wasn't a bad one either. F'dan, though she had not lumped him in with the other Bronzers, was the most arrogant she had yet to meet. No doubt he thought he could conquer the world. "Yes, and its not time yet, mine have only just begun to shake the tiniest bit."
The egg in his lap seemed to be doing the same. His was smaller than either one of her eggs. Heh...no doubt I'slen was trying to get on her good side. That canniving...F'DAN! alright alright. I'll stop Ruet had her eggs in a basket surrounded by blankets and some warm stones. Her smaller egg began to rock more vigorously, long before his. Well that was silly, his should be first. His ought to be the best.

Ruet was not at all happy to have such a person share in her firelizard hatching, however, it was better than being alone. Seeing as she had two to try to impress. Rue took out som meatrolls she had brought with her to the night hearth. Her eggs were snug in their basket surrounded by warm blanklets. "Here take some meat rolls for yours. Firelizards like food above anything when they first hatch."
F'dan took the meat rather quickly, wishing his egg to hatch first. He thanked her as he ought to. She knew a lot more about this than he did. When his egg began to shake more and more he looked over at hers. The smaller one had begun to break out of its egg. Looks like she was going to have her hands full.
The brown flit cried hungrily when his head was out of the egg. He burst the rest of it with his strong wings. "here you are." She gave the brown some meat immediately. He moved closer and closer to her till he was completely full. They had such small stomachs. The larger egg had been rocking but still much more gently than either of the other eggs. The brown made a meeping sound before falling asleep on her lap, so she named him Meep.
F'dan's hatched next. The little flit was a lot more pushy than his brother. He would dry to be the color of a dirt road. F'dan found him funny but not nearly as interesting as Roderith. "Silly little thing." He said luaghing at the brown, who was trying to eat more than his share but found he was too tired to keep eating.
