Tujal followed the long, winding corridor to the Alpha Wing Weyrs. She tried to be as quiet as possible, masking both her steps and her presence to dragons. Some loudmouth beasts would mention a power such as hers just walking around and tell their riders, prompting investigation. And while Tujal had a legit reason for visiting I'slen in his wey--
Not really. I don't think it's ever right for a weyrling to visit the master's weyr, Amenth interrupted to tell her.
Yes, yes. No, it's not appropriate...but I still don't want to fuel rumors any more than that Faranthd**ned Brook does. That girl cannot keep her mouth shut, I swear.
Whatever. Just be quiet. Amenth went back to sunning with her bronze, none other that Weseaneth. Tujal sighed. Those two were all that was needed to show the fondness of the weyrling for the weyrlingmaster, and vice versa.
Soon enough, she arrived at his weyr and found the curtain partially open. Dispensing with formalities, she simply walked in, so to avoid any questioning from any rider who found her knocking. "I'slen?" she called. "I'm here. What did you so desperately need to show me?"

As soon as I'slen heard that voice he spun around abruptly, hiding what he held in his hands behind his back. "Tujal!" The bronzerider smiled broadly, his grey eyes lighting up. "Come in, come in! So I hear that someone's naming day is coming up." The smile grew even broader, to that fool boyish proportion that only the young goldrider ever saw. His heart beat like a drum in his chest and he swore she probably could have heard it a hold or two away. With an inward crack he thought he should simply give up being a Weyrling Master and be a Harper's drum instead. But then, if he did that he would never see her.
He paused a moment for effect then drew the object he had been hiding out from behind his back. It was a small pot, filled with hot sand from the Hatching Grounds and in that sat a perfectly formed, nearly ready to hatch, firelizard egg. From on top his dresser, Feya and Bey watched with eyes a glitter, as did Weseaneth from his weyr ledge.
Silly little creatures. We are much better. The bronze stated his opinion rather flatly to both riders then turned his attention back to lavishing Amenth with attentions. Really, he had no idea what his saw in the creatures. Other than that they were useful for scratching ichy spots when he bathed. I'slen chuckled and shook his head at Wes's comment then grinned back at Tujal. "It was one of the largest in the clutch, fair to be a bronze or brown at least. I hope its... uh sufficient for a name day gift."

Tujal saw the grin and smiled. He rarely smiled that big, so she knew something important was about to happen. When he whipped the pot around from behind his back, she gasped. "Is that what I think it is?" she asked, surprised. She knew that Feya had risen not to long before, but she had no idea that the gold had kept the eggs close enough for I'slen to grab them.
Tujal crossed the room quickly on long legs, hugged her Weyrlingmaster, and kissed him. "It's perfect! I love it." She smiled at the bronze's thoughts. "Infinitely better. But they do have their uses, and now I'll have someone to help me clean Amenth." She kissed I'slen again. "When is it due to hatch? How do I Impress it?" The woman was full of questions. "I love it," she repeated, staring down at the pot as though it would hatch any second.

Laughing, he hugged the Goldrider close with one arm, and balanced the pot in the other. Fending off Tujal's happy kisses, he handed the pot and egg over to her. And, made a mental note to get more of those kisses later. Wes heartily agreed to this idea, which only served to widen the bronzerider's grin even more. "Slow down girl, my mind can't think that fast!" He shook his head and planted a kiss on the top of Tujal's.
"You never asked that many questions in my lessons." His eyes danced merrily with the jibe and another chuckle found its way out. But then he supposed, a firelizard egg was somewhat more exciting than the several safe ways there were to tie the hide straps for a harness.
"It'll hatch any day now, so you'll have to keep it warm, over a hearth would do fine. And when it hatches try and think happy thoughts and stuff it full of as much meat as it'll take." He nodded with his words, still smiling like a boyish idiot. All gas and ash and not a whit of sense. "Its allot like how you Impressed Amenth, only a tad smaller and easier." He winked and chuckled again. Knowing better than most what a handful the young Queen was. But eggs never fell far from the nest now did they.
"Make sure you oil it like you did her, once every few hours or his hide will crack with growth." He patted her shoulder, sure she would do just fine, but o course he wouldn't have given her the egg otherwise. Probably the hardest part of the whole situation for Tujal would be picking out the name. She'd had plenty of experience with the rest.
