Nemenath watched the Queen's gaze rake him over, and he softly crooned to her, invitingly. She was estimating each of them, he knew, and he also knew that his flattery had not been missed or disliked. Just as well; each and all of the words he had so lovingly shot her way were true. She shot off again now, and he took after her, ever-persevering. He knew now that he was in her favor.
K'leren also knew this, and he smiled almost smugly as his bronze pride streaked across the sky in pursuit. He longed to move closer to Ruet, to take her in his arms and take her away from that brutish F'sen, and to tell her she never had to long for anything ever again. But it would be innappropriate, he knew, so he left it be.
In retrospect, he would remember how strange it had been for him to have coherent thoughts during a flight.
Nemenath followed Sharieth.

Solarith crooned softly, feeling like he should step it up and show the queen that not only was he a looker, he was a big and strong bronze, but also that he did have a heart that was not just capable of ambition. He was capable of sweetness too, and knew the queen deserved it. The bronze with his molten brownish bronze hide glittery like a newly polished car, pumped a little harder to pull ahead. He crooned softly to the queen, I would make you sweet poems every day, o golden empress of my heart. There has been no queen at Fort or Southern that could compare to your radience, nor will there ever be. You alone are the most glorious.
The bronze spewed his thoughts about the queen so soft and gently. He was not a brute, not an uncaring beast. She was a queen and should be treated like one. However, he should probably keep tabs on every one else's positions if he had hoped to win. Solarith would be strong enough for Sharieth. He would be there for her, and he was a good looking bronze. And His wasn't a bad man either.
G'del's glossy eyes and mind were very much with his dragon. He did not feel the need to be in too much control. He trusted Solarith, and at this queenflight, he threw himself more heartily into it. He also couldn't help but flex a little bit as Sharieth/Ruet looked them over like a prize bull. He too wanted now more than ever to steal her away and keep her warm, they were wishes he would have never allowed to his conciousness unless he were much more in love with a woman.
Solarith/G'del would keep an eye out for tricks. Competeing in queenflights before, they had known not to fly straight up. They knew that perhaps they had a disadvantage of not knowing the royal pair well, but they would make up for it in other ways. They would probably have to out endure everyone else or be sneaky about catching the queen. Solarith/G'del would never quit before the queen was won.

The Bronzes were calling to her. She knew their game. They wanted to gain her through sweet words and flattery. That would not be enough. She was going to wear them out and make them burn for her all the more. Only the most cunning, the most strong Bronze could possibly win her. The Queen ignored the comments. She was not going to be won by words, unlike many flighty greens were.
Sharieth/ Ruet had settled before but not this time. No. This time they'd rather not be caught than be caught by someone less than worthy. She had measured them, yes but only they could prove their true worth. Sharieth flew in front of them still, though she had half a mind to play another trick on them. The logical side of her told her that would waste needed energy.
The Queen moved herself at an alarming speed diving to a thermal which only expediated her leave of the Bronzes. Ruet felt the power, the unbridled feeling of joy came and she was for the first time, actually enjoying the flight. She had stopped trying to control things and let herself be carried away as her dragon was. Thinking too much would hurt the flight and she wanted this to be her best so far.
---------------------
F'sen/ Wasanth knew not to interrupt the other Bronzes but also knew Sharieth never spoke during her flights. She still heard the words but Wasanth had enough of his own pride not to be foolish and say anything to her. He would expect a reply, one that would never come.
The illusive Gold seemed to gain speed again and Wasanth found she was setting the bar much higher this time.

The bronze sensed his words had little to no effect. Greens were much easier to woo in that manner. Solarith wanted to impress the queen very much, and was sure to show her he was worthy. Solarith held back just a tad, so he could see her game and find a pattern. Once he had some sort of idea where she was going, then he could take the shortest distance to her. The bronze was up for the challenge he suspected the queen would throw at them. Younger bronzes would have fallen for her first trick, but he was sure the queen would try something else. Solarith was no fool he would make sure Sharieth knew it.
The bronze wanted to surge ahead, but knew that burning his reserves too quickly would deter his chances of winning. Even though he was a bronze to the larger side of the spectrum, his edurance could prove worthless if he did something foolish. He would have to be smart, but what if another bronze moved in on his queen? Solarith would have to spring ahead once he decided he could guess her movements.
G'del on the ground, was enjoying the speed. He loved speed on dragon or on runnerbeast. It was thrilling and he would not give up the chance to be here now for anything.

She had caught the thermal and was rising up to meet him, Weseaneth felt the fire in his blood burn hotter but he waited in the path of the sun where she could not see. The thermal brought her up faster than he had thought and the bronze was hard pressed not to bellow his victory but he knew it was too early yet so instead of pouncing upon the Queen he watched her rise up to his level and then sideslipped in under her. His wingspan was nearly as large as hers so Wes caught the thermal just below her and began to try and press the Queen even higher.
The farther away he could get her from the other suitors the better. Weseaneth growled deeply and quietly, he wanted her to hear but not the rest. He had sat back patiently for far too long for his liking and now that she was tiring out the others, he would be there. His blood was fire and his mind could think of nothing but the glorious female in front of him. He stretched his wings and felt his muscles coil and tighten, waiting for the turn or dive he knew she would try to make. Wily Queens were like that, moving when you least expected them to so Wes determined that he would simply stay ready.

Nemenath grew frustrated, reflecting his rider's agitated thoughts. How dare these other bronzes, these impersonators, try to capture the radiant queen? He gathered himself up and shot after the beauty, determined to catch her. His shiny bronze hide reflected his excellent health, and his purple-and-red swirling eyes show his lust and passion for the moment. And since he was a rather medium sized bronze (about fifty feet in length), he could afford to expend some energy after the small, pale Gold. He passed some other bronzes quickly, and when he got to the height of the group, he stopped paying attention to those around him. All that was important was the golden queen, still yards away from his own position. He caught his own thermal from the heat created on the side of the mountain, and used it to jump in the sky, leaving some bronzes farther behind him. Again, he called out to the Queen. Beautiful, radiant Queen. You deserve the best the Weyr has to offer. Please, leave behind these others and come with me. You are the most beautiful Queen, and I am the best bronze. We know this. He didn't say it as a braggart might, but simply as a stating of the facts.

Solarith wanted to growl out at Nemenath. The insolent beast! For truely his competitor might not be one, but it made Solarith feel better to think that Nemenath was. Solarith could't risk watching Sharieth's movements, especially with Nemenath was shooting up to the front like he was. Solartith had to make some sacrfices, and he couldn't afford to stay with the others to calculate movements any longer. He would have to use up some reserves and get closer to Sharieth than Nemenath was. He had to if he wanted any chance at all. The stakes had been risen.
G'del had never felt Solarith so determined, so heatedly competitive in flights before. In greenflight he had been confident and almost arrogant, but never like he was now. G'del felt the need to use up some reserves in order to have a chance. And he let Solarith do what he must, glad that his bronze had been watching competition as well as the glorious gold in front of them.
Solarith beat his mighty wings faster and with more strength. He pulled in front of the bronze he had previously been flying along side of. He swung his tail like a rudder, yet now it was more anxious, swirving slightly to dodge other bronzes so that he could come to the front. He was behind Nemenath now, his steely eyes upon Sharieth. Solarith would at the very least give Nemenath a little more pressure.

The Gold didn't like how close some of the Bronzes were getting to her/ She turned quickly to the right, knowing that Weseaneth was below her Sharieth did not move as he wished her to. He was a very intelligent Bronze and though she could have him if she wanted to she felt that it would bring neither of them much joy.
The next two closest were competing heavily with eachother. Solarith and Nemenath would both be fine matches for a Queen of her status. She wasn't going to make it easy for them. There were still a few others that could suprise her. She was sure to lose some over her next few feats. The queen did rise a slight bit higher, not to catch a thermal herself but to let her bronze followers catch it while she dropped a slight bit lower.
Deciding that that wasn't nearly a bad enough trick she continued to fly in sporadic spurts of speed and stunts. Sharieth's pale hide shimmered as she made every attempt to lose the dogged followers. Wasanth was not doing as well as some of the others and considering their history she was proud of it. The thought made her feel better than before as she flew for freedom of the sharding males encroaching on her space.

Nemenath almost fell for her trick before he noticed her wingtips forming a downward flying position. He barely voided the thermal, but not before he was swirled sideways by the heat rising with it. K'leren cursed; his arm had a sudden throbbing pain in his left arm where the quickly moving updraft had caught Nemenath's wing. But they kept going, and eventually, the pain evened out enough for them to continue.
They had lost ground on the queen, but they were determined to catch her up. Now Solarith was virtually in the lead, and Nemenath could not have that. He strained his wing to catch up. Since he was so far behind the others, he was able to catch another thermal. Taking it, he sailed up to a closer vantage without further hurting himself.
Now he was almost back into his former spot, and though his wing ached, he still had to keep up. And he didn't want Sharieth to think he was weakened or weak in any way, so he didn't even scowl as he went to regain his spot in the group. He would simply have to be more watchful next time.

Solarith was lucky that he had just enough time to save himself from the fate of Nemenath. The bulkier bronze used his weight to drop farther down, until he was slightly below Sharieth, and Solarith was glad he had been watching Nemenath to save him from folly. The bronze, seeing that his closest competitor had dropped back to recover, and knowing he would be back, focused on Sharieth for the time being, and tried to avoid complex trickery. He couldn't affort to strain a muscle or bruise. Solarith had to be at the top of his game. While the quickest way to a target was a straight line, there was almost no way too keep straight with the queen's frolicking antics. The arial show allowed almost no time to think before reacting, and Solarith found himself mimicking her a little bit.
Careful, old friend, G'del found himself huskily whispering. He had been smirking as Nemenath fell back slightly, and now the Solarith/G'del noticed their nemesis was catching up again. Solarith couldn't afford a major slip up.

Several Bronzes had fallen for her last trick, many of them were now far from her, most of them had dropped out. She knew who followed and who did not. Unlike her previous trick her next one relied mroe on her own energy and not that of her Bronze followers. It was daring to say the least.
A larger Queen would not have been able to do it. Her speed which had kept her in front of the bronzes allowed for her to somersault, tunring around without having to stop, she flew the opposite direction of the Bronzes, who at their current speed would have to learn her trick or waste time slowing down to turn around after her.
This however, left her just beyond that thermal she had avoided before. The choice was to fly around and risk being caught by a Bronze that had nearly fallen for the trick or fly into the thermal which would slow her up considerably. Without a second thought she began to fly around the thermal. Her wings were burning. She was getting so tired. Sharieth's flights had never lasted this long before.

K'leren saw, through Nemenath's eyes, that the Queen had turned in midair, losing most of the other bronzes and coming right back towards him. He'd been beneath the flock, attempting to catch up, but now he switch his course to a more interceptory one. He would catch her now, it was inevitable. And she was growing careless. Burning need filled him as he grew closer, and it seemed like time was slowing down. He was aware of the pain in his left wing, but it was diminished now that he was so close to the prize. Who cared about a little ache when a big ache was longing to be relieved? K'leren smiled at that thought. Nemenath performed a daring reversal, coming up under the tiring Queen. He reached out and wrapped his arms and wings around her, and crooned to her lovingly. My Queen, your Nemenath has you. You need not worry anymore. I'll take care of you. And so he did. K'leren moved towards his woman and took her in his arms. "Oh, Ruet..." He swept her off her feet, literally, and moved towards the weyr. ~~~ Tujal had watched, and she thought that the pair made was better than before. F'sen was just boarish, and Ruet was, as much of a wet blanket she was, very sweet and quiet. And so was K'leren. The two would be good together. And from what Tujal had heard, they'd been seeing much of each other anyway. Tujal could see that this was a case of rider preferences influencing the flight. She looked at the group of bronzers to find her own. "I'slen, come on, love." She went to him, and ignoring the random hands reaching for her, found his hand and grasped it. "Let's go inside."

Sharieth felt herself tiring rapidly so that when Nemenath did have her she was relieved not angry for being denied her freedom. The Queen need not tell him her feelings or of her needs. He would know. She had chosen him and that was saying enough.
Ruet was in a haze when the Bronzerider came to her. Next thing she knew he was carrying her to the weyr. Her arms wrapped about him gingerly. "K'leren..."she said the name as if to try it out. The flight had ended better than she had imagined it would. The man who held her was someone she had found herself falling for recently.
The happiness was soon drowned out by the lustfulness she was feeling. Her eyes were glistening with anticipation. She had not ever felt this lustful. Sharieth had been different this flight and so was Ruet apparently.
----------------
F'sen had definately not seen that last trick coming. HE and Wasanth were not only dissapointed but also worried. Perhaps this was how the Queens were going to be flying now that they were older. Well there was always young Amenth, though she seemed to be much more 'spirited' than Sharieth.
The dissapointed dragon went back to his weyr, his rider went to find one of his lady friends...

((hehehehe. I get to play a sulky bronzerider. Gives him more chances to be cold. XD ))
Solarith was stunned, and highly dissapointed. The bronze sulkily flew alone back to his weyr, G'del strode, off, not at all happy, but he didn't want to look like the underling he was. Of course the bronzerider would beat himself up for a long time after this. G'del had a strong pride, and this hurt him-even though he was new and unfamiliar with this entire area. Well, on the brightside he knew a woman or two that would be willing. Any one would do right now. . .
