Jennah smiled dangerously like a drunken man who had just been promised the world. He didn’t say anything, but it was obvious from his facial expression that he could’ve cared less who heard about the incident. He sort of swaggered where he stood, indifferent to the Lord Holder’s anger. Everything had already been taken away from him. There was nothing the other man could do that was worse than what had happened to him. He had lost his Deleriath. The Lord Holder could’ve killed everybody in the Weyr, he could’ve killed Jennah slowly and painfully, but nothing would’ve hurt as bad as having his soul torn apart. He smiled at the Rakken and watched him evenly through flat eyes.
Rakken had forgotten one important thing. Nothing was more dangerous than a man with nothing to loose.
He nodded slightly in the direction of Ruet and waved his hand somewhat dismissively, “That’s better than sitting here and…” he let his voice trail off and with a surprising spring in his step made his way down to where the newest dragonpairs were staggering off. His mind had already pushed the incident with the Lord Rakken out of his mind and completely focused on the medical issues at hand. Chances were good that even the healthier pairs would be suffering from extreme impression fatigue syndrome. Even when the hatchlings were healthy it wasn’t uncommon for the human half of the pair to demonstrate some physical syndromes of their partner’s exhaustion.
Jennah was in his element, he was pointing at various salves and elixirs and barking orders left and right. This hatching was undoubtedly going to spawn several long sleepless nights. Long sleepless nights were Jennah’s specialty.
