The steel in the Weyrwoman's spine turned to brittle ice and threatened to shatter into a thousand tiny shards, but instead Lyrai took a deep breath and nodded. Oh Faranth... not the dragonets... That would increase this nightmare tenfold, they couldn't afford anything happening to the dragonets. Ly glanced at the eggs hopefully, it was a good sized clutch... yes a couple looked smallish but then there were always those. "Well then," Lyrai turned back to Ruet and then glanced to her Queen. "She needs to wake up."
The Weyrwoman walked hesitantly across the sands back to her nearly grey dragon. All the healers buzzing about made her edgy but she held her tongue, knowing they were simply doing their jobs and looking after Zhariath. She laid one cold hand on the queen's neck and reached out to touch that beloved mind. Zhariath... Zhariath... Zhariath... It was many long, tense minutes before she felt any sort of response. But slowly, like climbing out of a pool of molasses, the dragon woke. Zhariath blinked nearly colorless eyes open and crooned very quietly. Lyrai sobbed happily and through her arms about the queen's nose, about all of the dragon that she could actually hug with any success. Waves of love washed back and forth over the both of them and the Weyrwoman could hardly bring herself to let go and face Ruet once more. But when she did, Zhariath's gaze followed her. "Alright Rue."

Ruet admired Lyrai for her bravery. Her eyes almost came to tears at the other woman's readiness to do whatever it took. Also she felt the trust that Lyrai had for her. It did not matter that the dragon healers would be tending the Queen, she felt the need to be involved in every aspect of this. Her best friend in the Weyr was Lyrai and she could not, would not let her down.
When the Queen woke, Ruet was both relieved and distressed. The healers were immediately springing to action. The assessed her more now she was awake. The Queen would get better once they figured out what exactly ailed her. The poison could cause a myriad of problems. Since Zhariath's body had in fact taken the poison through her entire system before excreting it, it was entirely possible that this was a renal problem. The kidney and the liver were definately involved.
"We believe that she needs sleep because she has worn herself out, which can happen all too easily to a dragon who is suffering an underlying illness. We didn't notice before that she was indeed ill from the poison." Next Ruet spoke quietly with the journeymen and masters that were helping cure the Queen. Sharieth was sending warm messages to her sister. She didn't want the other Queen to think she was alone.
Coming back to the pair, "We agree that this is partially a blood pressure thing. Hypertension most likely. It increases with stress and pregnancy. We need to get her back to her normal self but thats going to require administering some herbal medicines and the like." Which meant Rue was going to have to send someone to raid her stores.

The Weyrwoman listened as if her life depended on it, which really it did. But none the less she found all this Healer talk fascinating, even if she didn't understand half of it. Zhariath too was doing her best to pay attention, eyes moving back and forth as the people buzzed about her. The Queen blinked her faceted eyes, nearly washed out with color at the moment and tilted her head as she listened. Feeling her twin's support, Zhariath rumbbled and raised her head.
Lyrai nodded, worried about the idea that this was perhaps a condition that had been plaguing the Queen for some time. If that was the case no wonder this clutch had taken so much longer than usual for Zhariath. At least what Ruet was saying didn't seem too bad.
((gotta run to class, will finish this later))

Tujal kept her unsurprise to herself. She'd never thought it actively, but in retrospect, they ought to have expected something like this, ever since Amenth had almost died with her poison. She spotted a candidate lingering around the doorway. Nosy scorchin' candidates. Children, she thought disgustedly. Aloud, she yelled. "Hey! You! Get lost!" She rolled her eyes. Didn't the candidates have chores?
She looked at Ruet. "So what do we need to do to help?" As highly as she thought of herself, she knew it was her duty to the Weyrwoman to help her in anyway she could. After all, Lyrai had helped Tujal and Amenth through their rough time. "Weyrwoman Lyrai, can I get you some wine? Or juice? Ruet, should I get anything for you?" She looked at I'slen. "Are you thirsty? Seems like Ruet and Lyrai will be here for a bit, unless I'm much mistaken. I might as well make you all comfortable." She slowed down; her mother instinct was showing. Looking at Lyrai, she smiled softly. "I know it's hard to think of food right now, but you have to eat for your dragon's sake. It's what she'd want you to do. What should I get for you all?" she asked, now addressing the group.
Zharieth, now that you are awake, would you like a small bite to eat? And when Amenth said small, she meant it; the weyrling was only two-thirds the size of her mother. But maybe, if Zharieth aquiesced, she could coerce Weseaneth into helping her. But she would try to help anyway she could.
Tujal smiled when the Weyrwoman rose to the occasion and didn't just fall down limp like a rag doll. That was real strength. Fall, it was even courage. It made her proud to have this Weyrwoman.

Sharieth looked down on everyone, still concerned. She looked at the silly candidate who entered the sands and nearly flew down to chase him off...even if Zhariath was sick it didn't mean the eggs were open to people. Sharieth would never let anything happen to them.
Lyrai seemed to understand what was happening. Ruet knew it was hard to listen but the diagnosis wasn't as bad as it could have been. Zhariath was a young, strong dragon. She should be fine. Ruet was more concerned now for the dragonets. Hatching day was going to be busy for her and the healers.
At Tujal's request to help Ruet looked at her again, she had forgotten about the others for a brief time. "Oh. Well scaring off the unwanted visitors is a start." She smiled, the girl was a bossy one, though Ruet sometimes found it cute, like now. "I think getting food to Lyrai is a great idea. Now we need to make sure that she is comfortable, since she won't be leaving her dragon until she looks better." She knew dragonriders well enough to know that. There was no way Lyrai wopuld leave Zhariath in this condition. "a cot might be nice, and perhaps some klah for the healers..." She knew it was going to be a long day for everyone.
Ruet left them with those sentiments and went back to the healers. It did help that she could communicate to Zhariath directly. Sharieth was now looking down at the bustling dragon healers. She really was more concerned for her twin than she had ever been for another dragon. It was a scary feeling for the Queen. Ruet wasn't really able to comfort her much either. Too busy.

The Weyrwoman nodded slowly, a small smile coming to her lips. "Yes, food sounds just fine. My thanks both of you." She sat down between her Queen's forepaws and sighed heavily. Zhariath sent waves of love to her rider and then out to Sharieth and Amenth, being quite clear how grateful she was; however, unlike her usual protective self. She seemed to barely noticed the clutch at all, but then it was taking most of her strength to remain awake. At Amenth's question, she rumbled a quite affirmative then laid her head back down.
I'slen shrugged and looked from Ruet to Tujal and back again. He nodded quickly than took a step back. "I'll go get enough for the three of you." With that the bronzerider made his escape into a tunnel, leaving a twittering Feya to oversee things. Chuckling inwardly at Tujal's quick command to the visiting Candidate. That girl was gold through and through for sure. Not that any of the three women were anything else, they all had that absolute sense of command.

Three of them? She couldn't possibly eat at a time like this. Ruet walked over to the healers making it quite clear that she was far too busy to stop and eat. Sharieth rumbled at her rider's silliness. You are being a hypocrit...Lyrai hasn't eaten in a lot longer than me... with the clutching all night and everything. I ate last night.whatever you say. Just thank the nice Weyrlingmaster for bringing you all food.Sharieth commanded her and then went back to giving evil glares at anyone who went near any of the eggs.
Ruet worked along side the dragon healers the Queen should start to get some color now that she had some fluids, at least thats what they said. Rue really didn't know what else they needed but at least she could ask Zhariath questions directly. "We are going to have to check the eggs when they aren't as fragile." bilinian commented before she could protest to anyone going near the eggs.

Tujal patted her Weyrwoman's shoulder and left the room. I'slen would take care of the food, and she would go help Amenth hunt. Her long, trader-esque skirt dipped and caught the sands occasionally, but she ignored the burning to her legs and kept walking importantly. The Queen needed her and Amenth's help.
Meanwhile, Amenth cuddled her handsome bronze. Weseaneth, could I bother you to help me catch a proper beast for the DragonQueen? she asked politely. I'd do it myself, but I couldn't carry one such as the Queen requires.
Tujal smirked and held in a giggle as she left the cavern. Ever since last night, Amenth had been in a high mood. It put Tujal in good humor.

Weseaneth bobbed his head furiously then stood and made a show of stretching in front of the little gold. Not that she needed any reminder about how much of a perfectly formed dragon he was but it couldn't hurt to remind the other bronzes that it was he and no other that Amenth chose. I can catch many many beasts. As many as a clutching Queen would ever need.
As I'slen trotted down the corridors to the kitchen he snorted at the dragon's comment. That was a little crass don't you think. No, its true, I am strong and fast and an excellent hunter. Modest too. I'slen laughed aloud and trotted faster, mindfull of his mission. Well of course I'm modest. I have so many other tallents I didn't express. The bronze said it in such a no-nonsense way that his rider tripped and fell flat on his face, laughing like a fool in the middle of the corridor. After a moment he picked himself up and continued at a more sedate pace.

Ruet was cosumed with work at this point and really couldn't be bothered for anything. At least Zhariath seemed to be looking better. She was still discussing things with the dragonhealers, all of them debating on what affects this could have on the eggs. Still Rue was hopefull that all would be well. Perhaps they would need some special care at first but so had Sharieth and she was perfectly fine now.
Sharieth for her part was proud of Amenth for bringing her mother food. Thank you Amenth and tell Waseaneth the same. Sharieth knew her duty and was not about to leave the eggs unnattended. Their mother was tired and needed them to be looked over. A couple Weyrbrats tried sneaking in, but she quickly put an end to that. Informing her rider who sentanced them both to latrine duty later.
