The Weyrwoman watched Tujal's reaction with a broad smile. The girl was bright thats for sure, if a little bent on using the knowledge for manipulation. Lyrai took another sip of her klah to avoid giggling, Tujal would be a terror of a Weyrwoman someday. "Its simply a matter of practice, when you find yourself reverting to those ideas simply remind yourself otherwise and continue from there. I'm afraid such preconceived notions have been drilled into many of us from a young age."
Zharieth stretched and resettled, her dark gold wings flashing in the bright sun. Humans are strange creatures. Dragons are much more logical. All Lyrai could go was smile at the Queen and shake her head. "Yes love, we can be quite complicated can't we." She smiled mischeviously at the other two women. "Especially us females." The Queen rumbled in amusement, her eyes whirling speedily. We females are the better of dragonkind as well. At least we golds are. Lyrai could not withhold a giggle on that commment, as much as she loved Zharieth, the dragon really could be a right old priss sometimes.

Tujal nodded.
Humans are strange creatures. Dragons are much more logical. Tujal nodded, but grinned. Amenth fawned over Weseaneth as much as Tujal fawned over (well, thought of) I'slen.
We females are the better of dragonkind as well. At least, we golds are.
Amenth raised her head to this and chortled. Tujal smiled, and nodded to that as well. "Not sure what I'd do if Amenth had turned out Green," she said. Unlike the Weyrwoman, Tujal never wished she rode green. "What do I have to learn next, Weyrwoman?"

(Sorry, couldn't think of a good reply....)
Ruet listened to the others but made no move to speak again. She was normally fairly quiet and reserved. When the Weyrwoman and the girl spoke on riding green she wasn't happy. "If Amenth had turned out green it would not have mattered to you and you would be saying exactly the opposite. As it is you did not. Do not ever make others feel insignificant because their dragons are not Gold or Bronze." Ruet had major issues with rankers who spoke about their rank.
Sharieth spoke more quietly than her sister and the younger gold, All dragons serve a purpose. We make better leaders but the world also needs followers. The light gold laid her head down. She was bored but she wasn't about to say that outloud. Rue wasn't going to have time to fly with her today again it seemed.

Tujal's smile quickly turned into a cold frown. "Aye, Weyrlady, but she isn't, and my happiness for her color is worth more than just a rank, if you'll believe I can be be above that." She turned away from the Junior Weyrwoman. "I don't like the green's amorous nature, and that is why I prefer dragon-gold. I am hold-bred, as you are. I must say, I didn't expect you to forget the conditions under which we were raised so quickly, Lady Ruet." Tujal shook her head. "I never make people feel 'insignificant' about any rank. Most rank doesn't matter, only the words and actions you use in life." She fell quiet after this, knowing she'd probably broken rank with her words against the Junior Weyrwoman. Someday, Tujal would also have that rank, but for now, her rank was that of Weyrling.
Permit me to say that I am glad I am not a green, as well, Amenth said shortly, just as rankled as her rider was. Why was it that no one considered the dragon's feelings on life? She was as glad as her rider that she did not have the green's lust and will to mate. Tujal remained quiet; no doubt she would soon be chastised for her lack of judgement.

Rue had not meant any offense at the younger girl and immediately withdrew from the conversation again after the younger girl spoke. Out of the three of them Ruet was the one who acted most holdbred. Her blue eyes didn't dare look at the other girl, lest the girl see the dislike for her in them. Dislike might have been a bit of an understatement. If Ruet ever got really angry this was how it looked.
As if that girl had any right to insult me. She has NO idea what mating flights are like. I better leave this up to Lyrai for I don't trust myself to speak. If anyone understood Ruet besides Shar it was Lyrai. They had impressed to twin dragons after all. The Weyrwoman may not have heard it as an insult to Ruet but it was how the junior felt.
To her rider, Sharieth said:Nor do I. You are in a bad mood. I wish we had time to fly today. We have been cooped up inside all week!Sorry darling. Ruet picked up one of the records she brought, refusing to aknowledge that Tujal had made her angry. She didn't like fighting with people so she still said nothing and instead read one of the records she had brought.

The Weyrwoman watched the conversation impassively, her mouth drawn into a tight frown. She sipped from her mug and placed it down hard enough to get both goldriders' attention. "Now then ladies, you are both goldriders and I expect you to act like it. I won't have any flippant females in my Weyr." Harsh words and she knew they were not entierly necessary but Lyrai knew sometimes it was better to put a foot down then let something get out of hand.
After a moment she smiled again. "We are a family and we can't have the Queens distressed. Ruet, go take Sharieth out on a good long flight. I don't want to see her shiney hide back untill dinner time. And Tujal off with you too, think about your lesson today. But the both of you have the rest of the day off. If anyone bothers you send them straight to me." The Weyrwoman started reorganizing the papers on the table. Sometimes it seemed everyone worked as hard as she did, or at least their tempers frayed as much as hers did.

"Aye Weyrwoman," Tujal said in response. She hadn't been very offended when Ruet had spoken, but it was obvious that Ruet had taken offense to her reply. Tujal couldn't get out the weyr fst enough. "Good day, Weyrlady Ruet," she said politely. She stood, pushed her chair in, said goodbye to the Weyrwoman, and left. She called Amenth on the way. Please meet me at the entrance. I want to go straight to our weyr.
Alright.
A few moments later, Amenth was settling on her ledge in the sun, and Tujal was settled with a skin and some ink to write a poem she had been inspired to make.

Ruet sat, waiting for Tujal to excuse herself first. She would follow momentarily. "Until next time, Weyrling Tujal." Ruet inclined her head to the girl. Then stood up herself once Tujal was out of the weyr. "Sorry, Lyrai. I didn't mean to offend anyone." Rue said eyes downcast. She truly felt bad for causing anything. Considering no one ever really caused her to be angry she was feeling at a loss for what she should have done.
"I'll get going so you can finish up your duties for the day...Shar and I should be back in a short while if you have need of us." The junior was feeling really terrible for troubling the meeting like that. Why was she in such a foul mood lately anyway. There was no reason for it at all.

Zharieth? On it
The Queen relayed loving and warm thoughts to Ruet and Sharieth. Crooning aloud the golden queen nudged her twin. Eyes whirling bluely she gave Sharieth a good long lick above her eyeridge. All is well, do not worry. Zharieth spoke to both her twin and Ruet, trying to convey her rider's sentiments as best she could.
Lyrai meanwhile had reached across to pat Ruet's hand. The Weyrwoman smiled and nodded, reinforcing her gold's reassurance. Then she reached back and scooped up the papers, seemed the work never ended. She stood and filed them against a series of skins on a small shelf. With a sigh she ran a hand through her hair. Yup, the work never ended.
